Default Waverace: Blue Storm

Anyone on here have any tips for this game? I restarted it a couple days back and am quickly recalling why I gave up on it in the first place. It's so damn hard to steer.

Why did they make this game so difficult in comparison to the 64 version?

The only character I'm any good with is the chick with the shorts or at a push the "British" guy; the rest of them I struggle to make it around 3 buoys.

Unfortunately neither of those characters seem fast enough to even win a race on Hard mode.

i beat 100% of the game with the black rasta guy (Nigel?). try getting used to him. and while steering, release the gas button.
everything else is standard: in the last round, turbo shortcut through the finish gate without caring about the buyos, you can miss 5.

WRBS wasn't that hard. but F-Zero GX wasn't hard for me either, so maybe I'm just good at racing games with spot-on responsive controls - still hate MKW though = bad controls.

ah well another lil useful thing:
Forget steering left/right. Always press down/left and down/right for extreme cornering.

unlocking thunderstorm waves is worth beating the game.

This is the problem for me. The N64 used to have a nice tight analogue stick that made hard steering easy but the GC's is too loose and makes it difficult. The original Waverace had a balanced selection of characters but this one seems to have almost 80% characters who take half a year to turn. This is why so far I've only had any success with the girl and the "British" guy who both have almost full points for maneuverablility but have a problem in that they become uncontrolable when using turbos. I didn't spot a rasta guy but I'll give him a go on my next shot. I don't think I can stand that "British" commentator anymore as he's easily the most annoying attempt to do an accent since Dick Van Dyke.
