Default Games worth beating

I have a few unbeaten games on the Gamecube.

They're good but not my style or I just stoppped them for other reasons....

What do you say? Beat or Leave?

1. Battalion Wars (have played 40% of it, then stopped and got the sequel on the Wii, also beaten 40% there )

2. Geist (I played through the entire game but stopped at the final boss. almost 3 years ago - haven't decided to kill him yet)

3. Baten Kaitos (played to disc 2, then spent a whole day grinding when the power was cut. thrown the game into the corner where it still collects dust. again that was 3 years ago)

4. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (stopped somewhere in the middle, fantastic soundtrack alone couldn't grab me. worthy in single player mode?)

5. Kirby Air Ride (again, rewarding to beat in single player mode?)

I didn't find the final boss of Geist to be too tricky but check this guy out for a laugh (spoilerly):

Don't be like him SKTTR, beat that boss.

Haven't played any of the other games but I have played this. By single player do you mean beating all the challenge things like with Brawl? They can be pretty fun to do, at least I had fun with City Trials challenges. Then again, I played the game mainly with a friend so maybe it isn't that fun to play it alone...

Load up the save and finish this off!

After cranking through some other games, maybe enough time has passed that redoing that lost progress won't seem so bad.

You could always grab a friend and play Kirby Air Ride co-op.

I'd say Battalion Wars is definitely worth finishing. Actually, I need to buy it so I can finish it myself.

Also, I got a question of my own:

Tales of Symphonia - I stopped a third of the way through and never picked it up again. Should I give it another go?

Tales of Symphonia is a pretty generic jRPG, if you're curious about the story I would recommend you to play it trough, but other than that it doesn't really hold any great ending, great twist or anything in that area.

Hmmm... yeah, I will give Geist another go this weekend.
I'll get that one finished!

Baten Kaitos I don't know.
Now that I wanted to get back into it, I remember I missed a very special, useful, big fat item in the beginning of the game and I can't get back to get it. Will I? Ever?? I think I have to start from scratch but then there's my OCD that says there's no Baten Kaitos Origins in EU. I need a real push of motivation to beat this. Is the story / ending worth it?
A question: This game has such a nice FMV intro, will there ever be any more cutscenes of this kind? In 40 hrs playtime there was not a single cutscene! Why is it on two discs at all? And the in-game story progressed with just talking. Zoomed out. In static render-backgrounds. Every other RPG on the Gamecube was more immersive. Damn that game. I really dislike the presentation. The intro makes this game look so wonderful, but what a disappointment this was so far.

@ Lapras King: How do you come up with Skies? I already beat Skies of Arcadia Legends on the Gamecube. I have 100% of those hidden "landmarks" (loved that sidequest), 100% characters (loved that too), and 99% treasures (couldn't get the last one - that island exploded and it's away forever now.)
Was one of the first games I had on that machine. Seems to be very rare nowadays.

Kirby Air Ride I need to restart.
I wasted some of the Golden Hammers randomly. Dumb!

Battalion Wars. I'm stuck on a really hard defense stage.
Enemies spawn from all sides of that fortress.
Will look into videos for that mission when I goback to it.

I already know the story is incredibly generic, I just want to know if the later areas, dungeons, and boss fights are fun enough to warrant a full playthrough.

I liked the beat'em-up-style battles in Tales of Symphonia, they kept me going. There's nothing worse than fighting a thousand lame battles in an RPG. Thak goodness the Tales series has a great battle system.

I never found out how to play multiplayer though, the packshot says its for 4 players. I expected some Secret of Mana co-op. Still don't know how it works.

There's also some good story telling and a cool change coming up. The later dungeons, bosses and villages were good enough to play for some of its music, puzzles and design. It's clearly on the lighthearted and funny side, thus I can understand some of the "hate" for the game. But the climax to the final battle and the ending were quite unexpected as they went serious in just the right places and as such I thought it's worth it.

I got the game for €30 used back when it was new. One playthrough was enough though. It's a 70-80 hours game (on 2 discs) for a single playthrough. I unlocked NewGame+ and most of the stuff you can get in the first playthrough but to master the game you need to get through that game multiple times (finding all achievements, sidestories, skills, monsters etc.)
It's a good RPG. Not very exceptional but far from boring and kinda epic. I just wish the instruction booklet would explain how to access multiplayer.

Tales of Symphonia 8/10

I remember it being confusing but don't you just plug in extra controllers, set the characters to manual control and you're set? Or does that not work?

You have to set them to set the other characters to semi-auto and stick in another controller...I think.

I guess I'll give it another go someday, when I'm in the mood for an action-RPG.
