Now that I'm an owner of a Nintendo Wii, I did a little shopping on the virtual console earlier this morning. You've gotta love the selection of games available, but am I the only one that thinks the 64 channel is a little bare? If they're dropping so many games on the virtual console every week, why are they making such a big deal over releasing 64 titles? It's not like they're remaking any of the games, right?

Right. But note how there were far less N64 titles than SNES or NES games, for example.
If they released them at the same pace, they'd run out of N64 announcements too soon, and that could make some customers forget about those games (theorically). |

N64 games on the VC are usually a big deal, and we have to be thankful that all of the currently released ones are generally very good.

N64 Games= Big Releases, according to Ninty. So, 1 per month...

Quite honestly I can't see how Nintendo can consider releasing a 64 game on the virtual console such a big deal, but whatever works for them I guess. One release per month doesn't sound that great. Upgrading to two a month wouldn't be that bad.
Although the 64 didn't have a huge game library, not all games released on the console were good titles. If they could go to a format where they release one well known 64 title and one lesser known that wouldn't be so bad. |

I agree, I find it kinda weird that there is over 35 games out for the Sega drive but only 9 currently for the 64. But, all the ones out for the 64 right now are the best of the best. I'd kill for Killer Instinct or 1080 Snowboarding, but I know the chances of those games coming out soon or at all is very slim.

The chances for 1080° Snowboarding appearing on VC soon are VERY HIGH! It was one of the early '98 games, and it's an original game by Nintendo. There were some licensed snowboards though (Lamar) but just like Wave Race 64 they would cut out the licensed advertisements and make Wii advertising instead.
And there's also hope for Killer Instinct, seeing that one of the characters (Chief Thunder) makes a cameo appearance in Donkey Kong Country 2. As far as I'm aware, Killer Instinct was developed for Nintendo. If you look at the credits, all of the copyrights go to Nintendo. At least Rare says, it's completely off to Nintendo what of their back catalogue is going to be released on VC. |

I'm just waiting for Nintendo to announce Smash Bros., Donkey Kong 64, and Goldeneye 007. When that happens, I'll be done buying N64 games.

That's great! I never looked at it that way. 1080 is still the best snowboarding game I've played yet (although I haven't played the new SSX on Wii yet). The gameplay and the feeling hasn't been matched yet IMHO. I loved Golden Eye too. The versus mode with friends was the best part though. I think if they can somehow copy that and come out with a new version using Wifi and the Wii remote they'd have a serious hit. |
