No, its not out yet. It should be released during the fourth quarter sometime (Sept.-Dec.) though. So, who's looking forward to it. I'll be getting it for sure and an extra DS to transfer my diamond guys over at some point.

You would get an extra DS just for that?! Just borrow one from a friend.

I definitely won't be getting Platinum. My first game in the series was Pearl, and I bought it just to check it out, see what it was like, see what all the fuss was about, and determine whether the series is for me. It's not. It started out alright but about half-way through I just got bored with it. I can see how the series has its charm for serious pokeymans people, but the constant pokeymans rotation doesn't do it for me. Cheers!

I got bored of Pokemon when I realized I was being jipped into buying the same game for years.

PS: They aren’t coming. Fire Red/Leaf Green contained all the Gold and Silver Pokemon.

Anyway, I’ll be getting it. Emerald was my favorite Pokemon game and if this game can duplicate the same ‘enhanced’ version to how Emerald was, I will be VERY happy. If anything though, I’ll probably just be happy with more stuff to do.

But it’ll have to be only if it isn’t interfering with another game purchase at the time. Because currently I’m playing a lot of other games and having to do work relate things. Where before I was playing a lot of Pokemon and would have LOVED to have another Pokemon game. And There’s all those Dragon Quest games coming out near the end of this year…

I´ll get this game too. The changes they make to Sinnoh makes it look very interesting.

And about Fr/Lg, you gotta be kidding. They can´t possibly contain all pokés from G/S/C.

They do. After you beat the main game, 7 Islands apart from the main Kanto Regon become available to explore, along with and 8th one after an event and a 9th with a 'Pokemon Ticket' (but you know how that goes...'. All with a number of 'new' Pokemon to capture. With Pokemon ranging from random Kanto Pokemon to Pokemon from G/S/C. That's where I got my guy that eventually I got up to Tyranitar, as the only other way in all the games to do that was to wait till Daimond/Pearl or Trading.

Anyway, just like in all the games, the islands have MOST of the pokemon, but each game is missing a few based on which version you have. So some trading is required. But now with Daimond/Pearl trading (and even more G/S/C/ Pokemon available straight to capture in there scattered around and with swarms), its a lot easier to get what you need.

I'll be passing on Platinum. Doesn't look like it's different enough from Pearl to be worth the buy.

On the subject of the DS pokemon games, though, Gamestops are giving out Deoxys this weekend and next (Fridays included). Dunno if it's US-only, but I suspect it might be.

I'm pretty sure it is US-only, Rydia.

Question somewhat unrelated to Platinum, but related enough to warrant me asking it here... since Pearl only caught my interest for a short while, but I still want to give it a shot, I've been thinking of different approaches to how to play it. I thought I might go back and try some of the earlier games as a way to lead up to Pearl (and to build a better little collection of earlier critters). I'm thinking of getting one of LeafGreen/FireRed (not sure which yet) and Emerald. Would those two games give me pretty good pokeymans availability/coverage? Which would be best between LG and FR?

I'm pretty sure that you'd be able to get almost every pokemon between Pearl, Emerald, and one of LG or FR, if that's what you're after. I'd say that LG/FR & Emerald are going to be pretty similar, though, so unless you're aiming to catch 'em all, you may want to stick to one of those 3.

I've had the LeafGreen/Emerald combination recommended to me before. I remember that after deciding to get one GBA game & looking at the availables/unavailables, I choose LeafGreen (I have Pearl).

There's a lot of FAQs about availability, the Series Pokemon Catching Guide seems most relevant.
