I am so down for Hidden: Source. Dystopia is alright too. And NeoTokyo.

Edit: Synergy is coop for HL2. Sven Coop is the coop mod for HL1. Both have a large playerbase.

I want to try out Team Fortress 2, but I'm a bit shy to play along with random people online who may be very harsh on me being a newbie and all.

So if you guys decide on a Team Fortress 2 get-together, then count me in.

Yeah, TF2 and Hidden: Source are my top 2 picks personally. I'd love to play some TF2 with all you guys at once. 2Fort anyone? (this map is, I'd say, infamous for just being about killing and not the objective but that makes for better practice at the game, I'd almost say)

I played Team Fortress this morning so I'd definitely be up for some matches.

Edit: Shall we invade an empty server or have somebody set one up?

You know, we don't just need to play shooters either... I think I have some RTSs, sims and racers that can be played with and against others (but many of them aren't maccable. Though is Jogurt REALLY that important anyhow).

Be sure the stuff is either free or cheap (and preferably available on a digital distribution service). I guess we could do some Trackmania. There is a free version on Steam.

All the stuff I buy on Steam is cheap... I doubt I've spent more than $7.50 on any single game.

No. By no means do I want to suggest that the only VC-F Steam fun that's allowed to take-place should include me. Go on and have fun with all your non-Maccable games too. I just want to make sure some of the games that get partied at are Maccable gems like TF2 and/or whatever.

I'd love to be able to play some RTS or turn-based strategy or puzzle or whatever kind of stuff with people. Eventually.

TF2 is on for $6.70 today. That's basically what I was waiting for. Cheaper than a Genesis game on the VC? Thanks!

Both great deals for very awesome games. The music in Osmos is beautiful.

However, today I'm getting the X-COM pack.

So, Spore's gone for a while, so I'll have to try to fill in. Today we have quite a few nice specials, although I think the highlight is Madballs in Babo:Invasion for $2, down from $10. I've been meaning to get this for a while so I couldn't resist this price. It's a fun actiony game that's both multiplayer and Maccable, so pick it up guys!

I got this one last time it was on sale for 1.50. I should really play it some time.

Let me see....Borderlands is a pretty good price today, but unfortunately inflated Australian prices make it $27.19 here instead of $10.19. Beat Hazard is great value for $2.49; it's a trippy music game in a shmup setting that I'd highly recommend.

I just bought BC Kings for $3.39. It seems like a pretty ok RTS (the reviews only cited the fact that it's a standard RTS as its only low point). Perhaps we can play this. I also bought Star Wars Empire at War (RTS set in the Star Wars universe) for $5, I might start it tonight.

I have Empire at War on disc. It's a pretty awesome RTS from what I have played, which wasn't too much because I sucked at it. Might have to break that one out again.

*dances with joy*

I thought after I missed the free period I would have to wait forever to get a great deal on it again.

What's the difference between a guest pass and an actual copy of the game?

I just bought the game on sale today too.

I also snagged Left 4 Dead 2 (I can't play it yet, though), Civ IV Complete, and Tales of Monkey Island Complete.

There is no difference. The only "difference" is that after the set amount of time you have goes by, you can't play it anymore. Otherwise, it's the fully functioning game that gets installed and played by you.

Anyone play the Thief or Dark Void Zero games? They are on sale today and I was thinking of getting them.

Edit: Nevermind I decided to get Fat Princess instead. I'm not sure how much cash I will have left over so I'm not sure if I will be getting anything else.

GH ninja'd!

Some free Valve game is coming out on Monday. Don't think it's Maccable. Looks like a 4-player co-op top-down shooter.

OMFG ALEIN SWARWM IS STEAM GAEM NWO 4 FREEEEe AND MAED BY VAVLE.

Edit: Also, it's running on the latest version of Source which means there is a very high chance that it will be running on Macs as well.

Okay, this thread needs a bit of a bumping with new information.

It won't be too long before Spore returns from that pesky visit to Hawaii for his birthday which made him miss the Engineer Update. I hear that island is a swell place to visit, though, so he probably didn't mind all that much. To celebrate his wonderful homecoming on the 17th 18th, we will be playin' a bit of Team Fortress 2. You can find (not much) more info here. If you aren't in the VC-F Steam group yet, do so now.

In other news, Valve just announced that Alien Swarm will be released free on Monday in NA, but in proper tradition that appears to have turned into Tuesday. We haven't heard anything about this game for quite a long time; check out its original website to see how much this project has changed since they last showed off anything.

Essentially, it's a co-op 3rd person shooter involving aliens that's definitely influenced by a lot of the retro top down games of that sort. This looks like a game I'd happily pay $10 for, so it's wonderful to hear it will be free, complete with achievements, Steam Cloud, stats, and full game code. It even brings a few new features to the engine, like depth of field support. To top it all off, it appears to actually come with a fully-usable Source SDK, so people could play a lot of Source mods without having to buy a Source game apparently it doesn't

Needless to say, this should work very well as a game for us to play. The only catch so far is we don't know when a Mac version will arrive.

Aww, seriously!? The day I'm gonna go on vacation is the day we all finally play TF2 together. Well, hopefully the next one will be at a better time.

JoYo says he (and probably Pluvius) will be on a fair bit later (in around 5 hours I think). It's 8:20AM here for me and I have no commitments today, so I'm pretty much free for whenever and will join up with others if I see them play.

In other news (this is mainly for Spore), you can currently get Metro 2033 for $12.50 on THQ's site, which includes a code for Steam. It's only available for people in the US (not sure about Canada...), but it'd be pretty easy to buy the game for another person and send the code. I'm trying to commit to finishing a lot of my games, though, so it'll be a while before I consider getting this.

I played and got eight kills over a period of about 1.3 hours, mostly as the Heavy. I also unlocked my first three achievements, all for taking damage. Woot.

So I managed to play TF2 for about an hour on Sunday with hansolo350 and enigmaopoeia, and I think I racked up 2 assists. I played for just over an hour the night before that with Spore and I got at least 2 kills. The game is pretty weird. I shoot guys like 10+ times and they don't go down, then they kill me in one hit. I thought the Heavy was supposed to be the killing machine. Oh well. This game will get better when I get my PS3 controller set up.

Keep in mind that Medics can boost players' health beyond the normal maximum and you can find alternate weapons that have different stats.

Yeah, I was wondering what all those "level 40" and "level 60" weapons were. Good ways to keep n00bz from getting any better at the game, I guess.

Eventhough I've put a lot of time into TF2 I really have no idea how you get the weapons. They seem to just randomly give them to you after you die. I'm sure there is something that triggers them but I don't understand why it keeps giving me repeats of these unlockable weapons.

The levels mean nothing. Seriously, they do not change a thing. I think it was more of a joke from Valve when people were saying TF2 was turning into an RPG.

Edit: Earning weapons and hats is completely random. You can also earn the weapons for each class be doing achievements for them.

The new item drop system rolls to decide when you will receive an item (from 15 to about 80 minutes), ensuring that you don't go too long without receiving an item. There's an item cap for every week, though, that resets every Wednesday/Thursday.

Ok...
KiwitheTortoise is now on steam.

I didn't buy anything thus far though & am therefore unable to add friends myself.
I downloaded Alien Swarm though, even though it seems to crash when I start an offline training mission. Does anybody have the same problem?
