| Mega mole | In case you're incredibly oblivious/stupid or just don't go into the chat here very much, I've been ranting about a little $10 download game called Altitude. Altitude is basically a 2-D online shooter with whimsically designed cartoon planes. What makes the game so rant worthy is that it's very accessible with: a low asking price ($10), relatively low system requirements (700 mhz, reasonably low RAM, nearly any graphics card made in the last decade, and 300 mb of HD space), and the fact that it's VERY easy to get into AND do decent at. The main point of the game is to fly around and shoot down other planes (while avoiding death yourself). You do this through various modes such as: deathmatches, team base destruction, and ball (capture the flag). Along with being a super fun game, we have quite the VC-F following there so you never have to worry about liking some obscurely stupid game. Playing so far we have: MasterGH, Diebythesword, Trapster, Hansolo350, spore, Jogurt (well, he says he's played, but I never see him online), afrancio (formerly Tony), and me. They can post their name if they want, since I don't want to over step my bounds listing them out. If you're thinking of trying the game out, you can get the demo here. The demo only lasts for 3 hours, but is pretty much unlocked aside for 3/5 of the planes and most of the perks (though you still can play nearly any mode with any full version player). Best of all the game works on all 3 major operating systems: Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Plus, it even works through the browser, so you can essentially sneak rounds during work. If you're thinking of buying the game, let someone who has the full version know first, so they can send you an invite and get some skin points. The game supports a gamepad/controller (which I recommend, since it's way easier than using the keyboard). See you in the skies (as well as here, since you can feel free to list your in game name or talk about strats here too)... Last edited by PoisonRamune; 26th January 2010 at 02:53 AM. |

| [sarcasm]This sure was hard to find.[/sarcasm] What's the point of the friend list if not to add other people? I don't think it'd be too bad if you listed their names, though. Mine is Grim Reaper. |

| Mega mole | Well, I didn't want to say this, but Spore did say there'd be no way in hell he'd play with you or diebythesword... |

| Mega mole | While my name is normally PoisonRamune, I recently changed it to a stupid Simpsons meme of ChirpyBoynBartJr. I'll probably change this back in a couple days and will let you know when I do... Also, Trap, I forgot to say just kidding (about Spore not wanting to play with you... With Diebythesword, my claim still stands). |

| Lakitu | Yay, finally a thread! I've been having a blast with this. It's one of those games that lag between me and (most of time) US servers doesn't really make a difference. Aussies seem to play a fair bit at night time on local servers, though. I've got very little bandwidth left for the rest of this month but this game is pretty light on data |

| I'm glad to know it supports a controller. I played the demo with a keyboard and enjoyed it but noticed alot of fatigue in my fingers using the keyboard. |

| I played the demo a few days ago, very fun. I'll be buying this game next time I'm ready to splurge money for games. Right now I'm trying to save my money though so don't expect to see me playing. (BTW, when I do start playing, my name should be [VC-F] TidesofChaos or TidesofChaos if I forget to change it) |

| Lakitu | Ahh! Back from a very bad spot with my download allotment for the month. Had to virtually cut the supply on my PC for the last few days to get through without overcharge. Changing my nick to the suggested name now! |

| I think I'm only level 22-23. I know for a fact that I only unlocked the Miranda plane a little while ago. |

| Mega mole | I'm at level 43, still playing the Loopy near exclusively. I'm waiting for the acid shot for the Loopy and should be capping out (level 60) in about 30 - 40 or so matches (based on my average EXP/round take). |

| I play different planes depending on what challenges I have completed and whatnot. I notice the Bomber is one of my best planes. I also like the plane before the Miranda one. (Don't remember the name) And I managed to complete several challenges with the Miranda in a single match. The laser is quite fun. I haven't played the Loopy much lately. |

| I'm level 32 and I only use the Loopy because I cannot be bothered to learn the other planes. |

| Lakitu | I'm level 31 right now and like flying the Loopy and Biplane. BTW guys, I really think this game would benefit from voice coms, maybe through Steam. I've added the game as a non-Steam entry as it is so I can chat to some people, so maybe everyone who plays here could try to get together with group voice chat? Just an idea |

| I'm in favour of voice chat. I understand that there are some chat programs that allow one to set up a chat room where people can join and everyone has voice access? In the mean time, I have skype for those who want to chat while playing. |

| Lakitu | Yep. There's TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, Mumble, take your pick, although I definitely prefer TeamSpeak and Mumble out of those. I don't actually have a Skype account (*gasp*) but tomorrow morning I'll register one. |

| Why don't you let me know why one you want to use (since so far you're the only one on board with the idea) and I'll get it up and running. |

Go here and download the both the client and server of TeamSpeak 3 for your platform/architecture. From there, this seems to be a good guide to using it. It's certainly a lot different to what TeamSpeak 2 was. Last edited by MasterGH; 3rd February 2010 at 12:22 AM. | |

| I have used Ventrilo before and some Skype, I think. I might've tried out TeamSpeak too but I'm not sure. I'd probably prefer Ventrilo out of those since it'd be the one I'm most familiar with but...whatever works. |

| I'm now level 50 and have unlocked Flexible Wings (whatever that does). |
| | |
| | #35 |
| Mega mole | Flexible wings improve your plane's agility. You can essentially have a biplane that handles like a loopy, if you equip flexi-wings. I like flexi-wings and the loopy and sometimes flexi-wings on an explodet just to do **** that's seemingly impossible. |
