Default Samurai Showdown fans. What will you do?

Although if they add V Special to the comp and VC, then it'd be £38 approx and $54 deffinite (Based on a pricing scheme of $9 per NG game).

But anyway...

I think I'd opt for the VC versions. The comp may have cool extras, but it may not have them. It also might mess them up in the ways of stupid Wiimote controls.

But... the comp would be 50hz optimised.

Still think VC's the way to go

I'd buy Sam Show II on the VC and be done with it. The series peaked with part II imho. I defo wouldn't want or have time to play ALL of the series.

Same with Metal Slug if it comes out on VC. I would get part 3 or X then leave it at that!

Agreed.

I'll be picking up SS2 for sure. The only question is whether or not I will be able let SS sit there while I wait.

Or get all of them with the Metal Slug Anthology compilation.

Anyway, I am just waiting for Samurai Shodown 2.

I'm getting the first one because I can't wait for SS2.
Samurai Shodown 1 was great. But yeah, Samurai Shodown 2 might be better. For me, SS1 is good enough.

I am alittle concerned about the Samsho Anthology also being WiiMote controlls, surely they won't, but than again they did it with Metal Slug Anthology, MAN I really hope they add Classic Controller or Gamecube Controller Support because I really really really wanna play Samsho 6 the old school way.

Think I might buy the compilation. I sure 2 is great, but the Neo Geo games just take up far too many blocks...

Dunno, I already have SSII but I am thinking whether to get the whole series on one disc or just download them.

The compilation has a lot of neat new features, from what I've read, like character customisation, training modes and other stuff. Also, I heard that the US release would be getting V Special, but that may no longer be the case. Anyway, compilation for me.

I'm getting the compilation, as I would like to play all of the games in the series and decide for myself which one is the best in the series. Plus, the compilation has the 6th entry in the series, which won't be coming to the VC, and that one looks to be the best game in the series, in my opinion.

Just to mention, I also intend on getting which ever game is me favourite(bar 6) on the VC, as well as SamSho II on XBLA.

It's been mentioned in every single product description that I've read that SamSho5 Special will be included in the Anthology.

Also, yeah the additional modes are nice too, especially considering that the Neo Geo versions, right up to V Special, didn't even have so much as a proper versus mode.

Oh, and just to mention, the Anthology is only $15 - $30, not $50.

Samurai Shodown VI looks cool & so many characters.
but if they create this game for Wiimote only and no support for classic or gamecube controller I will never buy another Wii compilation ever again. you play fighting games with a controller not swing your friggen arms around.

The SNK Arcade Classics collection, had gamecube and classic controller support, so I highly doubt this won't.

Metal Slug Anthology came out before SNK Arcade Classics. I'm sure that'll be a continuing trend.

More to the point, we don't even know when or if the rest of the series will appear on the VC. So, the compalation maybe quicker/the one way to have em all.

I don't think 6 was on the neo-geo.

i just downloaded SS2 since it was, in my eyes at least, the peak of the series, although i have not played anything later than 4. also the compilation will probably have pathetic loading times like all 2D beat-em ups on cd consoles mysteriously seem to have

???

I'll be getting the compilation when it comes out in March, because it's only going to cost $15, which is the cost of one Neo Geo game on the VC and then some change. Great deal!

Amazon says March 10, one week after King of Fighers '98: Ultimate Match gets released...and two days before yet another Shin Megami Tensai game gets released.

Yeah, but they've pushed that date back a billion times already, it was supposed to come out April of last year, then September, then around holiday season, then the end of last month... it's not like they're actually adding content, what's taking so long?

Maybe they're fixing the emulation... still, for $15, this is an absolute steal (thanks for letting us steal while keeping in the boundaries of the legal system, SNK ).

Do you have something against Shin Megami Tensei (perish the thought)?

BTW, anyone gonna get KoF '98 Ultimate Match? Isn't it a port of the Dreamcast version called Dream Match with extras, and potentially better graphics? If so... COUNT ME IN!

Yes, that is most logical explanation. After all, they are adding an extra game to the US and European versions, and with 3 different versions on 3 different platforms, it's bound to add a lot of extra time to the original release schedule.

Not really. I mean, I curse it as if it was devil itself, but that's how I react to most turn-based RPGs. I'm just mildly annoyed that we've 3 entries of that series an the span of a single year.

Yes and no. It's a remake of the arcade version of King of Fighter '98, which the Dreamcast version was a port of(with inadvertantly-crappier graphics). It has better graphics, much better music, new and re-balanced characters, and more modes.

Most importantly, will it have budget pricing?

Yes, $15-$20(depending on where you get it) brand-spanking new. I'm not getting it though - I'm waiting for the online-equipped XBLA version...whenever that finally gets released.

I'd get it for that price. I don't plan to have a 360 any time soon, so the onlineable version will be out of reach.

^^Well the alternative will be the PS2 version which I imagine will have annoyingly long loading times, as all SNK games on PS2 seem to. Unsurprisingly, this one's been out in Japan since 2007. Goddammit, SNK.

So was Shadow Dragon, but noone complained about that, either.

Shadow Dragon is an RPG with online features, so there's at least a case for localisation taking as long as it did. 90% of SNK's releases are collections of emulated Neo Geo games with no changes whatsoever and they still get delayed for years. I'm sure any homebrew dork could get these collections running perfectly within a couple of months, given the amount of time SNK seems to spend on them. I'll admit that the SamSho collection is an exception, as SS6 is a port and not an emulation, plus they're adding some create-a-character stuff, but that doesn't change the fact that IGN had what seemed to be a completed build back in July. At the end of the day I paid for KoF: Oroichi Saga, and that port was pretty lacklustre, so I'm glad this one seems to have more care put into it, but I can just as easily download the ROMs and play online, right now. Oh well.

Most fighters that I've played have had reasonable load times. It's nothing like the PSOne load times, or the Neo Geo CD load times.

I don't think anything will ever beat fighting Shang Tsung on Mortal Kombat for Sega CD, who'd prompt a ten-second loading screen every time he transformed

I might be looking into buying the anthology, but I'll probably just get Samurai Shodown V Special once it comes to the VC, but will it also be on the compilation?

That seems like a dumb (no offence) move on your part. Why?

A Compilation costs only $15, while the Neo Geo game costs $9 (!)
B Compilation has more games
C Game on VC takes up a lot of space
D It's NOT on the VC

I'm honestly getting a bad feeling that it might be delayed & then canceled eventually. I might get it though if it doesn't become cancelled.

Also, I heard that Samurai Shodown V Special probably won't be on the collection, SNK Playmore USA doesn't seem to mention that it will be on the collection
