Default The Castlevania: Rondo of Blood watch

All right, we have established three things as on the Virtual Console to date: 1. Nintendo has Konami’s support 2. we are getting Turbo/PC Engine CD-ROM games and 3. we are getting are starting to get Japanese imports on the VC. So my question is this, when are we going to see Dracula X: Rondo of Blood on the VC?

If anybody has any information on whether or not we are experience on the Wii any time soon, this is the place to send it. Thank you.

It's certainly possible from a technical standpoint but I think with Konami releasing the game on the PSP it might be unlikely...but stranger things have happened.

S&P got released, for starters!

Yes, but Konami is not foolish enough to think all people own a PSP. I think this should be possible to release the original, untainted version for the VC even if the game goes for 1000 Wii Points.

Not necessarily, you got to keep in mind that by the time Castlevania X could be released on the VC; Chronicles will have been in the market for months. It’s not like it’s going to hurt sells (and considering that the Wii is the hot item now, it would likely boost revenues).

I think we'll see it. Konami already took the time to give it an English translation for the PSP version, all they'd have to do is slap that up on the VC and rake in free money.

The PSP version is a port, which is easy to translate. They'd need to learn and use the old PC Engine devkits in order to translate a VC release, which is not worth their time and money.

But, they could just port it as Wiiware.

The PSP version includes a 2.5D remake of Rondo of Blood, the original PC-Engine version with an English translation and Symphony of the Night. They already translated the original version as an unlockable bonus for the PSP game so all they really have to do is throw that code up on the VC.

It's now 2009 (about a year and a half since this topic was made) and I think that we will see Rondo of Blood later this year, probably around Halloween.

But of course with the way Nintendo has been handling the VC lately, who knows

You mean piling on a steady stream of awesome games? Nintendo's VC habit has really picked up from this time last year. I'd say Nintendo's VC heroism isn't what's concerning with regards to Rondo, but the fact that it would likely require some translation work (and there are still a few Castlevania games that wouldn't require translation to be brought to the VC, including Bloodlines, Dracula X, Castlevania, Legacy of Darkness, and now Haunted Castle). I don't know how text-heavy Rondo is, since I've only played a bit of the PSP version, but I don't suspect Nintendo is in any rush to put a lot of work into it.

Oh I am not saying that the quality of the games Nintendo is releasing are bad. They are actually releasing some really good games as of late. What I meant was, at one VC game a week (except for the TG16 2 game week and the 4 VC arcade releases that same week) , it really lowers the odds we will see Rondo of Blood this year. I still would like to believe it will come out around Halloween, but with the VC you just never know.

Rondo of Blood might even be another game I'd download although I'll probably pick up an original copy at some point, too.

Yeah, I saw that on another community so I researched it a bit. Apparently, Nintendo doesn't keep their website up-to-date. I didn't even see it listed on the Nintendo site. I had to turn my Wii on and BAM!, there it was.

Nintendo doesn't even know what is going up on its shop channel judging from the broken games and misleading information about others it has allowed to be placed on their since its inception.

So, is this VC version fine, or will Betagam7 be seeing Nintendo in court again? XD

I highly doubt there are any problems with this. Besides this is guaranteed to run in 60hz like all the other TG-16 titles. Hudson is usually one of the good ones.

yep - just got it - it runs full screen. Very nice. You can see where the SOTN look came from with this.

It seems to be very tough this one.....

It's odd though - the intro (non-skippable) is in German with Japanese subtitles!!

In game text is English & Japanese.

That's how the Japanese version is.

Thought that might be the case....a bit paranoid with the bad taste of the Ironclad conversion from last week.....

The intro is only non-skippable first time through thankfully...

Anyhow this is rock hard - far tougher than any I've played in the series. I've completed IV, Chronicles on PS1 and I'm at the level 4 boss of Rebirth. I have messed about with SOTN but haven't spent a lot of time with it yet. Maybe the NES games were as tough as this?

I'm only on Stage 4, but I tried Maria once and nearly beat it on my first try just fooling around, Richter has more trouble though.

I doubt it's too tough with Maria.

Castlevania Chronicles is the hardest ****ing game I've ever played. So no, the NES versions were not that hard. Unless you're talking about the thankfully neutered arrange mode. That wasn't that hard from what I've played. Original mode is a *****!

Don't worry, all TG-16 imports run at 60hz.

Speaking of Rondo, I still haven't started this yet. Coursework interfering and all. Might save this for when I am off.

Jesus, those damn fish creatures in the lower section of stage 2 are annoying. The first time I got to that area, I was knocked into a hole by that bigass bull.

Hello, I've downloaded this game and played on a wii ( pal ) via component cable and plasma tv. The graphics all look blocky, I've taken a couple of pictures.
All my other games look pretty nice through component connection. Any suggestion?
Many thanks

Don't use component cables. The game wasn't built for it.

*facepalm *

Moro, have you tried the secret PAL component cable code input thing? I'm not in EU so I don't know it, but it's mentioned around the forum and a quick Google search should reveal it for you.

Thanks guys, I've read something about that input code but thought it was only for games that are not allowed to be played through component. Castlevania actually plays, it just is crappy looking.
Anyway I'll look more into that code thing and eventually try a scart rgb cable.
