Question TurboGrafx CD

Is there any chance that the virtual console will start coming out with games for the Turbo CD-add-on thingy? I heard that emulation for Sega CD games would be difficult because both the Mega Drive and the Sega CD hardware would have to be emulated one on top each other.

I’m not too familiar with the Turbo Grafx, so I was wondering if its CD add-on would have the same setup or if the double emulation would even be a problem for the virtual console?

I have a very good solution to this
(and Nintendo doesn't need to bring out unnecessary Memory-add-ons)

Buy a 2GB SD Card!

They are cheap.
And if one SD Card isn't enough buy two.
I have heard some 4GB SD Cards also work well with the Wii.

If my Wii memory is full, I just move some games to the SD card.

If my SD Card is full, I just delete the games. I can download them later again for free.

I think Turbografx-CD, Sega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast games come eventually and there's no lack of memory at all.

I'd like to play Snatcher (TGCD) and Monkey Island (Sega CD)!

They are actually expensive compaird to a standerd USB flash stick. If nintendo supported standerd USB mass storage devices all these problems would be solved.

*cough*unannounced harddrive*cough*

Hopefully they will release a harddrive so we can see some more CD based games. And people is generally running out of space now anyway. And we need more channel places to put them.

Whoever told you that, doesn't have a clue on emulation.

So true... Anyways, I think they can eventually be released; though I doubt it.

If they are going to go through all that, then I really hope they put out the Unreleased and much desired Space Fantasy Zone.

Let's not forget: Graphics and code of most TG-16 and Mega CD games consume hardly any space compared to audio tracks. I’m not counting FMV games here. Nintendo needs write an emulator that can play compressed music (ogg, mp3, whatever) and interpret is as CD audio. This would allow use to store 2 or 3 CD games on the Wii's internal memory, and lots more on SD cards.

I bet the emulators they're using can do that already. But those games would range between 30 and near 200MB, still. Which would be a lot of waiting without being able to do anything else with the Wii. =\

A firmware update to have the downloads in the background and resume them when they're incomplete would fix that, of course.

Sega CD could be likely. Saturn might work as well but the Wii is certainly not capable of emulating the Dreamcast! Forget about that, not to mention the size of those games.

It's much more difficult to emulate the Saturn than the DreamCast, but you're right about the game size.

Isn't it that the Sega Saturn have two CPU's which makes it hard to emulate, think I've read it somewhere. Size is of course the matter when it comes to these kind of CD games, and I don't think Nintendo wanted a game machine where Sega earned more money on the VC than Nintendo

So basically I think that we won't see Saturn and up until the next generation where Nintendo can remove some errors made with the Wii (memory for example). In like 4 years everything will be cheaper as well so we might probably see a 60-100gbyte harddrive in the next Nintendo console, I hope...
