Default Aspect Ratio?!

So the aspect ratio of the VCA games is kept intact. Awesome. But for those of us who don't enjoy giant black bars eating the side of our TV screens, is there anyway to view these games in a "full screen" mode? The problem I have with the VCA games keeping this aspect ratio is the black bars take up more of the screen than the game does. At least wide screen on a movie (where you see the original aspect ratio of the picture) is bearable, but this is way too distracting. I can't fathom playing Duck Hunt or any of the Street Fighter games in this form.

You can play with the black bars framing the picture as it's supposed to appear, or (depending on your TV) you can stretch or zoom the image. If you stretch the image, it will be all distorted and hideous. If you zoom the image, a lot of the picture will go off the screen and you won't be able to see it.

Enjoy.

It always throws me off to see some black bars running by the screen, but when I play (or watch) for a while, I stop noticing.

Just be glad you get to play the games as they were intended unlike PAL owners who get a quite different form of "black bars"

I never even notice the black bars, since they just act as a frame to make the screen look like it's supposed to. I never noticed the black bars watching widescreen movies on a 4:3 TV back in the day, either, and I always used to get annoyed when my tech-ignorant friends would zoom the picture in so they could see it on the whole screen.

Enjoy.
Currently I have a 4:3 TV, is it possible to play with this option on a TV like that? And how would I do that? I don't want to go to the extreme on either one, but I wouldn't mind playing around with it to make it bigger without too much distortion. I'll be getting a 16:9 soon though.

I never intended to come off as whiney! Lol, I am very happy with VCA I'm just curious if I can play with the screen layout.

I'm with you Jogurt! I too get annoyed when my friends demand full screen (ewh!). I even explained to my girlfriend why widescreen was better so she wouldn't make that "mistake" again. I was just curious if I could play around with the aspect ratio or stretch/zoom the screen to make things bigger without distortion. Please don't dismiss me as ignorant haha, I was just looking into some different options. I realize the game as I have now is the way it's supposed to be viewed.

Great point .
While i never had tech ignorant friends zooming in but on my 4:3 TV I allways watch widescreen movies & TV shows in letterbox mode .

Thru i had been a bit lazy with my new set top box the old STB had a single remote button so i quickly can zoom in for 4:3 shows but my new STB end up having it in the menu's without a single button on the remote to zoom in so i permantly set it to letterbox bode so im been watching Pokémon borded edition .
