| Its getting on for seven months since we had a new C64 release on Wii. Combined with the problems some C64 games have had (LN3 - still not fixed to my knowledge) do we think the C64 service is done or has it been suspended. Commodore Gaming's website is still quoting the defunct VC-reviews website so it doesn't exactly scream alive and well.

| They should ad the Amiga versions to it, it would be much brighter and more deeply in choices.

In any case I've emailed Commadore gaming to see what's happening. Considering how heavily it was plugged on the Nintendo channel in Europe, I'm a bit surprised as to the lack of updates.

Also, without wanting to be overly pedantic, If you want to continue this discussion can we keep the Amiga discussion in the Amiga thread from now on, this topic was created to discuss the C64's situation on VC.

| Big Boo | Been that long already? Considering how many games the C64 have at its disposal it's a real shame that the available games don't sell. I guess the C64 isn't that popular among the NES gamers out there :/ Hopefully this isn't the end for C64 games on the VC, I really think it's great with loads of games available for the generations that wasn't around back then and that "loads of games" should contain all the consoles. But in the end, money rules this, if the games don't sell there's no reason for the companies to release new ones, I don't think all the good games have been released yet but if titles like Last Ninja and IK+ doesn't sell I don't see why others would.

| To support the C64 I will download more great C64 titles soon. On my list are: - Boulder Dash I often play it at a friends house, and it's just great on his Plasma TV. The retro graphics look so clean. Definately something I want to beat on my own Wii. - Paradroid Downloaded it already. 9/10 - International Karate - International Karate + I would get both, but to save some money I'll start with IK+. I have this game on CDTV, but it's only 1 controller. This game lives from its multiplayer. It's too good to miss out on the Wii and I hadn't some exciting IK matches against my brothers and old friends for years. Should relive this soon. - Impossible Mission - Impossible Mission II. I got Impossible Mission DS and beaten it twice thanks to the save option. I loved this game back in the day for it's atmosphere, animations, puzzles, exploration and voice speech. I liked the first one better, but the sequel wasn't bad either. I will revisit IM1 soon. - The Last Ninja - The Last Ninja 2 - The Last Ninja 3 This series is awesome! Some of the best graphics and soundtracks on the C64. Last Ninja 2 is the best one, but Last Ninja 1 is nearly just as great. Last Ninja 3 was generally reviewed as the worst in the series. I have beaten 1+2 back in the day (never got LN3) but when they fix the bug in Last Ninja 3, I'm downloading the whole LAST NINJA TRILOGY for the Wii. But beware: This game is hard. I was only a kid with cheats and help from others to beat such a hardcore game. - Uridium Downloaded it already. 8/10 I have some respect for Jumpman, Pitstop II, Nebulus and Cybernoid as they were outstanding games for their time. Maybe I will download 1 or 2 of them if I'm in the mood. Winter Games, Summer Games II, California Games and World Games were million sellers back in the day: retro casual titles if you will. I'm not into sports games collections but these games demonstrate some great visuals and multiplayer fun on the C64. Last but not least we have Mayhem in Monsterland. The technical most advanced title that is very similiar to the latest platformers for the NES, is unfortunately very glitchy in its VC reincarnation. It's a good and challenging little platform game though. But seriously, those 19 C64 games on the VC are nothing compared to the wide variety of genres and unique originals the original C64 has on offer. C64 games often go trough a licensing hell, so it's like the games only cost 400 Wii Points, with the 100 Wii Points extra just to get that game released on the Wii. |

| I'll join you in downloading this one once I move to my new flat next month and get Wireless broadband back. I havn't downloaded any games in months now so I'm thinking of getting myself 3000 points to celebrate taking the Wii online again.

| Do you like my helmet? | If Nintendo really is considering scrapping the C64, I'd be up for pitching in with a few C64 game purchases too. The only way I could think they could lose money on VC games like this is if they have to pay an up-front fee to the original publishers every time they put a game on the service. If they have to clear $100 or $500 or more with each game, I can definitely see it not being worth their while. Otherwise, Nintendo should just quit fooling around, dump every C64 game that's available in EU onto NA's VC, and then pray for the long haul. |

| in Shinobi World | Any update from Commodore Gaming yet? Things do seem to have gone a bit quiet, and there are plenty of great games still to come, so it would be a shame if it's all done and dusted.

| Monty Mole | If this turns out to be true, and C64 support stops for the American VC too, I'll pitch in and buy some C64 games too. It would be horrible to have support dropped before we even get Mayhem in Monsterland, the Impossible Missions, and Paradroid! |

| It has been a while since PAL got a C64 release. However I doubt Commodore has given up on releasing more C64 games. They are probably concentrating more on releasing most of the C64 games that Europe has had for ages in NA and Europe will more likely get another C64 update as soon as NA gets most of the games that are yet to be released. |

As some people have said, C64 games might have been put on hold in PAL so that NA VC has a chance to catch up. Though given the glacial pacing we've been getting the games at, you guys will be waiting a while.

When I talked with Commodore Gaming, they confirmed that Boulder Dash and the Epyx sports games were the more successful C64 titles on the VC.

| Next batch of Wii points I get I will probably download California Games. I already downloaded The Last Ninja and Pitstop II. And everyone is right about the difficulty of The Last Ninja. If you die 3 times that's it, game over. |

| Some good news is that California Games is around #17 in the "Most Popular" section of the VC Shop Channel. At the very least, Commodore can't say that their games aren't being well received/there's no sales for their games. |

| Exactly. I think if we give it a little while longer, let the the C64 games sell some more...well see them back on the market. Hopefully at a faster rate...

| This is a thread about the C64 on virtual console, were not discussing some website that let's you play Roms. In fact posting links to such a site may get you in trouble with the mods. Meanwhile back on topic I just downloaded Boulderdash, my VC C64 collection now reads: Boulderdash Cybernoid (urgh) The Last Ninja Mayhem in Monsterland Uridium Paradroid Impossible Mission I'd like to do more to support it but the only games left for me to download are sequels to games I havn't finished, waggle-fest sports games or a few duffers. Where's Wizball already?

| That blows. Even if certain consumers aren't interested in it, C64 games should still be pouring out on VC. It makes me sad when Nintendo doesn't support a VC supported console. PS Amiga needs to be on VC, idealistically speaking. I want the original Turrican games! |

Turrican 2 was different on C64 and Amiga. The C64-Version used pretty much all the power the computer had to offer. I still like the great Amiga Version of T2 more though. Turrican 3 was released on Amiga & the Genesis Mega Turrican is pretty much the same game. Super Turrican on SNES recycles a lot of level designs, bosses, soundtracks etc. from T1 and T2.

Boulder Dash seems like a great action-puzzler so far as I can establish from my hours play last night. Last Ninja needs patience to get past the initial frustration while IM ate up hours of my childhood although maybe for that reason its my least played VC C64 download.
