Default So what's coming next?

We already have four big names on the C64 so what can we expect from them?

SYSTEM 3

Apart from the excellent Last Ninja series and International Karate series which are complete now,
what else did they produce?

Flimbo's Quest - one of the best Platform games on the C64.

Vendetta - much like the Last Ninja games but in a western setting with western weapons.

+Bangkok Knights
+Dominator
+Hammerfist
+Myth
+Tusker
+more...

HEWSON

They brought us Andrew Braybrook's classics Paradroid and Uridium
as well as Cybernoid and Nebulus. I'm sure there's more good stuff coming.
+ Gribbly's Day Out - another Braybrook classic with excellent animations and gameplay.
+ Cybernoid II - the sequel to the space shmup that's out on the vc.
+ Eliminator
+ Firelord
+ Iridis Alpha
+ Marauder
+ Netherworld
+ Zynaps
+ many many more games.

EPYX

With sports classics such as Summer Games, California Games, World Games and Pitstop II
and action classics like the Impossible Mission series and Jumpman what else can we expect?
There's Winter Games and Jumpman Junior of course.

G.I. Joe was one of those action classics with many different characters.
The whole Street Sports series with Baseball, Basketball, Football and Soccer was a godd thing, too.
+ Battleship
+ Championship Wrestling
+ Asphai-series.
+ many more...

FIRST STAR SOFTWARE

They brought us Boulder Dash so maybe it's safe to say that Boulder Dash II
and Boulder Dash Construction Kit are also coming.

They made some other games, but the one I'm aware of is the Spy Vs Spy trilogy,
cause it's on the list of NES games for quite some time now.

Personally I'm looking forward to see games from the companies

Rainbow Arts
+Turrican (series)
+Katakis / Denaris
+The Great Gianna Sisters
+Madness

Nice List but unlikely we'll ever see that many C64 games.

Wizball will probably be next as its rated and I'm fairly confident of Gribbly's Day Out.

Big names I'd like to see would be:

Creature's 1 & 2

should be possible as by the creator's of MIM.

Myth

Exile:

Awesome physics based exploration title that's better than metroid.

Yep. I must've been thinking about Epyx the C64 publisher for some reason.

NETHERWORLD (C) 1988 Hewson

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=0yjVrOIb2SQ

This exploration shooter takes you to the Netherworld.
Move your spinning battleship through a variety of great designed stages
to collect the diamonds and get to the exit. a simple and addicting challenge,
combined with puzzles and action, this game has it all.
Fire button makes you shoot in all four directions
and moving around is easy and fluid - good gameplay.
Got the C64 Evergreen Award.

BOULDER DASH II (C) 1985 First Star Software

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=LG2VND3AHzE

This video is part of a series of Boulder Dash II game footage, where some interesting stages are shown. Makes me want to play the game right now. This is the version to own! Really!! Yet another exploring/puzzle/action game where you have to collect diamonds, so it must be cool. In case you didn't know, this classic computer game has some really unique touches even to this day. It feels fresh because it has its own physics and tricks, and the level design is ace.

FIST II - THE LEGEND CONTINUES (C) 1986 Melbourne House

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=A8zovoI3EHI

The C64 spawned some cult fighting games, like Kung-Fu Master, Double Dragon, Karateka and Yie-Ar Kung Fu, but no-one was as epic and challenging as this one. It's not only fighting (like in the first 5 minutes of the video), it's also lots of adventuring, trap-avoiding etc., too. When you watch the video at approx. 5:00 the game turns from a fighting game into a beat'em up-adventure. It was also famous for its screechy voice samples.
It was the big **** back in the day, and the C64 shows once again what great a little soundtrack consisting of 4 tunes can make a game atmospheric. but lets face the dark side, more variety in the background would have been nice - it was a lengthy game - and sometimes the lack of details makes you wonder where you are (am i going around in circles?) - scrolling is a bit slow and laggy. But it was a good game even with all its flaws.
Travelling around the eastern setting, through jungle, swamps, caves, bamboo woods, mansions, climbing mountains, jumping down waterfalls, finding sheet rolls and do mental yoga to max out your energy bar.

A fair 4/5 Stars. Ahead of its time, but not perfect.

An unknown Lucas Arts trilogy

Going back over 20 years in time, Lucas Arts (known as Lucasfilm Games) - they did Star Wars already - but there was more originality next to it.

Come to speak of 3 games that I always wanted to try but never had. I guess I was too young to know exactly what these games were about. Don't you find it interesting what came before Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Sam&Max and Star Wars?

Note that the next three games use a unique engine for visualizing the environment called fractal graphics. This was an early approach to 3D graphics to put the player right into the game.

Koronis Rift
(C) 1985 Lucasfilm Ltd. / Published by Activision.

Can you believe it? On one side of the disk was the C64 version, and on the other side the Atari version. Anyways, you have to explore the planet Koronis, find modules to enhance your own battletank by laser, shield, radar. You had to get the best modules keep to yourself and sell/trade the others. Goal of the game is getting force over the planet.

Rescue on Fractalus!
(C) 1985 Lucasfilm Ltd. / Game by Softalent. Published by Activision.

Interesting info from game creator David Fox: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=QYnFfIscHgo
Gameplay footage of hacked C64 version: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=A8_-78G8D_I
It's a game where you fly above an alien planet in search for stranded people. You always see through your cockpit, and have the options to land at specific blinking points and open your doors. but you have to land in a god spot to see whats coming after you. if its head is green its an alien. so dont open your doors when you dont see whats coming behind you. wait for the pilots to knock on the door. if its an alien it will try to smash into your flying saucer!!!!11! awsome.

The EIDOLON
(C) 1985 Lucasflim Ltd. / Game by Epyx. Published by Activision.

Gameplay footage: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=ttSiCOi_9Z4
It's dragon hunting through a cave. A bit first person shooter.
You have access to 4 kinds of energy you can throw at enemies.
Goal is to collect enough gems to wake up the boss dragon of the stage.

EDIT: Ok, this here has nothing to do in a trilogy, and it's a bit more arcade like than the other 3, but definately one not to left out:

ballblazer
(C) 1985 Lucasfilm Ltd. / Published by Activision.

2Player-Pseudo3D-Arena-Arcade-Action.

Fist 2 is something I'd like to play again with the advantage of a live pause. Quite an ambitious effort and if you loaded side 2 as I recall you got the game you see in the first 5 minutes. A sort of endless variation on the original exploding fist.

As an update on Wizball, Nintendo Service Centre (presumably catching up from a Xmas backlog) emailed me back about it today with this:

"We have no information of Wizball coming out on the VC download as yet, C64 games are still being released but it is up to the company that makes the games to decide what they want to release and when"
