Default No Nostalgia

It seems that most of the people around here are playing these games again for the 2nd...or 3rd time. I started playing games when I was about ten, which was about a year after the playstation was released and all i've played that is on the VC is new to me with the exception of super mario brothers (1,2,3,) and super mario rpg. Am I the only one here like this or is anyone else searching through the history of video games for the 1st time(not to make anyone feel old if i did)

I'm trying to get a mix of both. I've taken a chance with games like Chew Man Fu, Adventures of Lolo and Dragon's Curse, and I've ended up really enjoying these games. Then there's been stuff like Super Castlevania IV, Super Probotector and Gunstar Heroes, games which I knew were supposed to be great, but never had the chance to play them until the Virtual Console.

And of course, I've only gone and bought every Super Mario platformer again, and Sonic 2 for the gazillionth time. Toe Jam and Earl I hadn't played for a long time (Although I think I briefly played it on an emulator a few years ago), so I came reacquainted with it via the Wii

It's the great thing about the VC, being able to experience your favourites again as well as play games you've probably never even heard of before. I can't help but get irritated when people moan about a VC release with games they don't recognize, and then go on to say "Where's Game A/Game B/Game C/Game D!?". There's other good games despite the ones you've played, silly sausage!

I had never even heard of TurboGrafx before VC, and now it's my favourite console on it. I also never owned a Mega Drive, so I'm experiencing most of those games for the first time as well (Bit of a mixed bag so far though).

My first console was a Sega Dreamcast. I haven't had a console before that because my parents didn't think I needed one - lest those games would rot my brain - so until I was able to buy my own that's how things stood.

Basically, 90-95% of the games that have made and will make an appearance on the VC I've never had a chance of playing so this is great for me! Lots of great games at an excellent price.

Yeah, about the same here. I've tested some on emulators and so on but that's not the same feeling. My first console was a GBC and first stationary was a PSOne so I'm reliving a chlidhood on VC, not mine, but a new one :P

So I've gone quite main-stream since I'm not really, really rich so I can buy all the games. But there's some that I haven't even heard of, like all the TG games for example. TG wasn't exactly on a selling-spree in sweden so I've never seen the console in my life and just read about it maybe 1 year before the Wii release. I'm glad that they included it in the VC library since I really like shmups

I'd never download any games I've already plaed, as I own most of those. ^^

So far I've only purchased R-Type III (the original is far too expensive) and two PCE-Games, as it's still gonna be a while until I'll get my own real PCE. ^^

My first system was the NES and since then I've owned the following home consoles: TG16, Genesis, 3DO, N64, Playstation, Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Gamecube, and now the Wii. Even though I've been playing games for a while now, there are many games that I have never played. I just played Kid Icarus, Gunstar Heroes, and Wario's Woods for the first time because of the VC. Almost all Super Nintendo games are new to me except for a handful of games that I played at friends' houses. Also, even though I owned a TG16, most of the games available for download are new to me. I would say that half the games that I downloaded are for nostalgia purposes and the half are completely new to me.

Being a mostly dedicated Amiga fan for most of my life up until 19, I've missed a lot of the console games. Although I had a SNES, Amiga games were often a lot cheaper *ahem cough cough splutter*, so I didn't really use it much really until I got to Uni and started caning Mario Kart for days at a time with uni pals. N64 followed, but aside from some classic games, once I bought a PS and started getting into FFVII, it was forgotten about to an extent.

So apart from a handful of SNES games and a few of the N64 classics, I'm coming relatively fresh to most of the VC games...

So a bit of both for me too , but really enjoying some of the gems I missed the first time around!

My first ever console was a Saturn, then a PS, then a PS2. I only got into Nintendo when I got a GC on a whim. I have totally missed out on generations of consoles.

That is why I love the VC so much. I can play the games that I never ever got the chance to when I was younger. Every gamne I download on the VC is more than likely the first ever time I've played that particular game. A lot of you buy games for nostalgic reasons. I buy them because I never got the chance first time round.

I owned a SNES, Megadrive and N64 before so a lot of the games I had heard of and played before.
My biggest discovery with the VC is probably the Streets of Rage games. I'd heard of them before but I assumed it was some rubbish fighting game. The only side scrolling Beat 'em Up I'd played before hand was Alien Storm and I loved it. I had no idea there was a game with the same gameplay style that was 10 times better >_<

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Super Probotector were also great games that I never got a chance to get on GBA due to money issues.

I am replaying tons of the games I download though as the only retro console I have easy access too is the SNES.
