Default Super Mario All-Stars

Do you Think Nintendo will ever put SMAS in the AC
they might up the price a bit because its like 4 games in one, with improved graphics, and reduced Glitches.
It would be fun to see it though, because I prefer the SMB3 on that one better then the one on NES. (Just because I grew up with it.)

I don't think they will ever put up All Stars especially the copy I have, the one with Mario World included as well. The reason I don't think they will do it is because then they would have to price the game over 2000 points or they would be losing potential money they would get from the individual games.

If they ever do, it properly won't be for a long long time. Perhaps when the barrel of Mario titles run low or the NES editions just arnt making anymore downloads (Well there has to be a point where everyone's downloaded em eventually right?).

And perhaps release each one separate at 800 points each?

Why not even the combined SMW/SMA cartridge as a VC download? Would be great, but it's not gonna happen, since they can make way much more money with the separate games.

It's not gonna be on the VC until sales for the NES mario games slows down a lot.

Nah, they'd release a compilation like All-Stars on the DS before they sold it on the Wii. That'd make more sense anyway

Have it on the SNES. Also have Mario 2 & 3 on GBA in their SMA forms. That's some annoying voice acting. "Just what I needed!"

Thumbs up

What they should do is someday offer it for free, but the catch is that each version of Mario in the game is locked unless you have already bought the corresponding NES title. So like, the NES versions will be like DLC that would unlock each sub-game one by one. So, if you don't have any of the NES games, then then everything will be locked, either that or have a stupid time limit like the demos in SSBB.

I'm surprised they haven't already done this... a DS compilation with mini-games and possibly an art gallery/museum would be cool.

Namco has released such a compilation [namco museum] on nearly every system!

The NES versions are already out so I'd say no. Nintendo wants as much money as possible.

I doubt we'll see Super Mario All-Stars, mostly because it would be a fantastic deal. However, in all honesty, I prefer the graphics and music of the original NES versions anyway.

You know, if the DS2 or whatever they call it does have its own VC, wouldnt be surprised if we saw the Advance remakes of the Mario Allstars games instead.

Though that does leave SMB and Lost Levels out if they do...

I realy like SMAS+SMW, the best suite ever. SMB3 on VC looks like crap and the controller is totaly wrong, you jump with wrong buttons. NES dosen't do that game any good since it was realesed on SNES with better grafics and less bugs. I'm realy dissatisfied whit SMB3 on VC (can i get my points back?).

Nintendo REALESE "SUPER MARIO ALLSARS+SUPER MARIO WORLD" please!

Do Mario a big favour and show him with some stile!!! SNES going to heaven-NES to hell

I can't believe you would sit and bash the NES like that, quite possibly the greatest and single most influential video game system ever!

If all you care about is the updated graphics, then go buy a PS3 or 360 - then you'll be missing out on one of the greatest libraries of games ever found on a single system:

NES SNES N64 GC Wii
TG16 TGCD SMS MD

Sure why not, the SMS and Wii retail releases can join it as well.

SMS = Sega Master System
Wii retail release = physical game release on the Wii, hence on a disc

I wonder what the price would be though. They can't make it 800 because
SMB + SMB 2 + SMB 3 + SMW = 2300 Points

That would be a big steal XD. It'd make it 2000 Points XD

Super Mario All-Stars has SMB, SMB2, SMB:LL, and SMB3 = 2100 points.

Actual VC price would depend on how much of a deal they wanted to give people. They could still charge 2000 points, say you're getting graphical upgrades and 100 points off.

I have downloaded all the Super Mario Bros. games (SMB1, SMB2, SMB3, SMB:TLL) from the VC.

The only fair condition of getting Super Mario All-Stars would be if Nintendo is free-gifting it to all people who downloaded the 4 NES games!

If that isn't going to be the case, they should at least charge no more than 800 points for it at the end of the Wii's lifecycle.

Same here, even though I own the SMAS cart. I mostly got them for my girlfriend who prefers them that way as its how she remembers them.

Okay, it's like this:

Nintendo release Super Mario All-Stars as a standard SNES title for 800 points. The NES games act as downloadable ccontent. If you attempt to play a game from the title screen that you don't already own, then you will get a prompt to unlock it by downloading the original NES version from the shop channel.

And if you don't own any of those NES games you wasted 800 points.

not to mention Nintendo will never put that much effort into anything for its ROM factory. They can't even be bothered to optimise PAL games or include rumble/memory pak support for N64.
The most effort they ever put into altering a game was changing the banners in Wave Race 64 and they neglected to do anything about the huge PAL borders and slowdown.

Compare their attitude with Microsofts, they are light years behind in giving customers what they want.

Free isn't going to happen. Nintendo is in the business of making money after all. I'd settle for them allowing me to download it for the standard 800 points.

I think it'd be reasonable for Nintendo to charge something for the SNES-quality graphics, even if you've already bought all the NES games. Maybe they should make it 800 but give you a 100 point discount for each of the NES games you've already bought. So if you've bought them all, you get All-Stars for 400. That would seem fair to me.

Of course, they'll probably just charge everyone the full 800, and I'll probably buy it anyway.

I think many people credit nintendo with way to much long term intricate planning. I doubt Nintendo has any such elaborate plans for SMAS. They are far too lazy to individually decompile and release the games individually when they can just stick the old NES roms up and make money. I know they did it for the GBA but that was a different time and a different market. The VC is just an easy cash cow for them.
I don't believe there's any market research going into the releases, no hidden strategy of giving people what they want. More than likely the decision is made by one or two people and if its too much effort it likely won't be done
