| List some great NES games that deserved a chance in the spotlight, but went unappreciated back then. One from me would have to be Little Samson. Last edited by megacody; 13th July 2008 at 02:17 AM. |

| Marble Madness, anyone? As short as it was, it made a very addictive puzzle title back then |

| I thought the same could already be said about The Guardian Legend too, if not that having a large cult following in due time. Oh well o_O |

| I own that game. And I'd like to mention Mr. Gimmick. It was only released in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Japan from what I know. I donīt think it was any best-seller either. Only 6 levels but a great platformer. Unfortunately it'd cost a small fortune to get the game today because of the rarity. |

| Lakitu | I agree with Fire 'N' Ice. It's not like I'd call it superb or anything, but it was still a cool puzzle platformer made by the same people as Solomon's Key (which I can't stand) and without such a crazy high difficulty. I want to see it on VC some time. |

| Monty Mole | People give Sky Kid a bad rap. Its a very fun two player game. Great pick-up-and-play game.

| A Boy And His Blob and Kickle Cubicle are good calls, personal faves of mine. Kiwi Craze (New Zealand Story in some countries) by Taito. Not really similar to Bubble Bobble, but the games share some features. (EXTEND letters, death whales...) Crash N The Boyz: Street Challenge, fans of River City Ransom should check out this weird multi-event competition game (same publisher/sprite style). Great multiplayer, and the game just oozes with creative ways to kick the **** out of your opponents (piranas in the swimming pool for example) Tapped out for now, you guys already names some sick ones! Just thought of one Galactic Crusader I think it was a Color Dreams game (with the pale blue cartridges) One of my all time favorite SHMUPs

| Legendary Wings, Nice! That one had slipped from my memory since I first played it. A cool SHMUPish from Capcom.

| I loved Flying dragon: Legend of the Secret Scrolls. It wasn't a huge hit, but it was one of those games that cycled you through the game and unless you beat it perfectly it kept cycling you through. I loved it even though it took me forever to win. |

| gargoyle's quest 2 and Faxanadu (i really really want these games and I really hope someone has the foresight to release them because they'd be amazing on the virtual console) crystalis as well (if you consider it not well known. when i bought it, i hadn't heard of it but it had the best cover of all of the discount games at the store i went to. it was like 20 bucks new. now it has an insane cult following and for good reason too. i loved it so much more than the nes zeldas. it was easier but way more fun too). gun nac and guardian legend have also been mentioned of course. 8 Eyes is probably just alright these days but at the time, people loved it. People lost like full months of their lives to that insanely hard game when we were kids. Codename Viper was fun at the time (though I doubt it's aged that well) Astynax was fun too but again, super hard to the point that you pretty much needed a game genie to get anywhere. Abadox was another amazing game but without the cheat codes, it was rather difficult. I remember liking Time Lord for some reason but it seems super generic by today's standards... |

| also, i'm probably one of 5 people that actually like Nightmare on Elm Street. I thought the game was amazing the more I got into it. That said, every review I have ever read about the game (past and present) has not been very favorable. it's on a lot of people's worst nes games lists for some reason. i have no idea why |

| I'd love to see a VC release of Summer Carnival '92 Recca - it's an extremely rare vertically-scrolling shooter made specifically for the "Summer Carnival" shmup events Hudsun used to host annually and has to be seen to be believed. It's practically a bullet hell shooter, but on NES. The music is great, the scoring/difficulty is really competitive, the bosses are impressive and the game handles an absolute ton of objects on screen with minimal flicker/slowdown. Seriously, go find the ROM. I guarantee you'll be amazed that this game was released for the lil' ol' NES. |
