Default Yoshi's Story Review

Yoshi’s Story: 1000 Wii Points

Yoshi’s Story is a platformer for the N64 and VC. This is the sequel to Yoshi’s Island for the SNES, which sadly, is such a great game, that when people played Yoshi’s Story and were expecting an amazing sequel, they were disappointed by its shortness, easiness, and childish storyline. Being honest, Yoshi’s Story is a good game, but critics just had their hopes up too high after playing the amazing Yoshi’s Island, and really, as long as its fun, who cares if its short and easy?

This game has 2D graphics, but it has a bit of a 3D feel to it with all it’s shading, (take a look at the picture) these kind of graphics are often called 2.5D graphics, and they often end up looking pretty cool. You may realise that the graphics look similar to the graphics seen in Donkey Kong Country, and if you like that graphic style, then you are sure to like these graphics.

The music in the game is nice, apart from one AWFUL music track that has Yoshis singing in it, in this game Yoshi got a new voice, and sadly, it sounds awful, this game started all the annoying woooaaaah! That you hear in the other Yoshi games, so singing Yoshis is just crossing the ling. Moving away from the singing Yoshis, the music is pretty good and some may get stuck in your head.

The gameplay is like an easier version of Yoshi’s Island, the difficulty is a bit like Kirby’s, possibly a little easier, so you will, run, jump, dodge, and all of that kind of stuff, but something is different, instead of just getting to the end of the level like you have to in Yoshi’s Island, this time to finish a level you have to eat 30 fruits! Its an odd idea, but its unique, and it also gives you the challenge of trying to get all 30 melons, melons are the best fruits in the whole game as they will give you the most points, so that’s a little extra challenge for you. Yoshi can also toss eggs, Yoshi can get eggs from a spotted box by jumping below it, you can use an egg to pop a bubble, which usually have fruit in them. Although the game is short, each level has a high score board, so this game will last a long time for people who love to try and beat their high score.

The game will last for a long time, if you like to try and beat your high score, getting every melon in each level is a big challenge, and if you want that great high score that you can show off to all your friends, you are going to need to find all those melons, then you can also try to find all the coins, or try to unlock the purple, white, and black Yoshis, lots of people don’t realise it, but there is lots to on this game.

Overall, Yoshi Story is a good game, people just had their hopes up too high, it may be easy, but there is lots of challenges in this game that people don’t realise, and besides, no one complains about Kirby being easy, do they?

Presentation: 6.4
Graphics: 8.0
Sound: 6.0
Gameplay: 8.3
Lasting Appeal: 9.0
Overall: 8.3

I'm 13 so I guess my opinion doesn't count. But it's pretty good, each time you play the game it's differnt.

when did I say that? I'm not really a fan of straight forward puzzle games. But professor Layton has a story and more to it than puzzles. Well I bought the DS lite and Professor Layton, and I'm very happy with each. But I couldn't sell my old DS so I had to buy the lite at full price, plus $25 warranty.
