Default Illusion of Gaia

Please bring this game to the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console. This was my favorite game on the SNES.

Also please bring Megaman 7, Megaman X, X2 & X3 to the virtual console too.

OK, I'll get right on it.

Illusion of Gaia could make its way to the VC eventually, but it's not likely to come before its predecessor Soul Blazer (you'd like that one, too).

Thanks for the reply, I actually didn't know of a predecessor, I'll look into that. Then add that to my wish list too, Soul Blazer.

I just want to make sure you know we have no control over Virtual Console releases.

I know but I still wanted to put my thoughts up, I should have put it up on the SNES Wish List thread though.

Illusion Of Gaia looks fantastic and all, but it's also cheap. I wouldn't really mind if Square Enix skipped over this and put some of their other titles on VC, like Terranigma. Not saying I would be upset by this on VC, actually, I'd be pretty happy. It's just not on the top of my most wanted VC games of all time.

Sounds like your VC priorities are similar to mine. I mostly use it for games that are difficult to come by in their original format but you have to remember that others, like Jogurt, almost exclusively buy games that they already own as they prefer them all in one handy outlet.

IoG is probably one fo the rare exceptions where I'd buy a game I alrady own in its "real" format just because I love the game and could then leave the boxed version alone.

I am surprised non of the Soul Blazer/Gaia series titles have been put up on the VC yet.

Even if Illusion of Time is cheaper to get on Ebay, I would rather own the VC version over setting up my SNES to play the battered cart version.

Well, personally, I am getting a SNES, so I wouldn't mind buying an Illusion Of Gaia cart.

How is it not?

As you know, there is no actual official Soul Blazer "series" but merely a group of Quintet games that share themes/aesthetics. ActRaiser is one of them.

Act Raiser even has the same sound effects as Soul Blazer.

Actraiser is not part of the series as it doesn't feature Turbo the Dog.

lulz, Turbo. Pretty sure he's in RoboTrek.

Anyway, speaking of the non-official Soul Blazer "series" I wonder if they'll release ActRaiser II next or Soul Blazer itself. Original release order was ActRaiser -> Soul Blazer -> ActRaiser II, so that would be my guess.

I'd be more than happy to have Soul Blazer. Considering Terranigma was released in Europe, I'd say there's a chance we could get it over here.

I haven't played SoulBlazer, but I can't remember a dog named Turbo in ActRaiser, Terranigma or Robotrek.

And I really want ActRaiser II.

That's because he wasn't in ActRaiser!

Interesting to hear that he is in Robotrek though. It's the final Quintet game I need to collect to complete my SNES "quadrilogy"...as they say in Alien-box-set language.

There really should have been a 5th SNES RPG just so that we could call it the Quintet Quintet

I hope they release Soul Blazer before ActRaiser 2.

Act Raiser, Act Raiser 2, Soul Blazer, Illusion Of Gaia, Terranigma (the Act Raisers aren't RPGs, but they are definetely related to the other games). **** Robotrek, it's the outlier of Quintet's games.

PS I don't mean to impugn the quality of Robotrek.

If anything you should be inpugning the quality of Actraiser 2.

Just because it's not explicitly related to the other games (which are themselves only tangentially and unofficially related to each other) doesn't mean it should be ****ed. It's a great little RPG.

I'm just saying that in regards to the unofficial continuity. Don't mean to be hating on the game. If Quintet made, say Chrono Trigger, I would've said the same thing to that too.

Is Act Raiser 2 really that bad? It's missing the magic of the first game, but it looks all right to me...

It's a rather average action game. Taking out the god sim section was one of the worst ideas ever.

It does indeed "look" gorgeous but as Han says without the God sim you've just got an even more frustrating action game than Actraiser 1 and its horrible end-boss rush!

The boss rush wasn't that bad...You had multiple lives, after all.

The sim part in ActRaiser was for me, the best part, too.
And yeah, it's a shame that they completely took it away from its sequel.

Still, I really liked to play the clumsy Castlevania-like action-platformer parts (most likely because getting a new sim stage was so rewarding), so I don't really know how motivating this will work out in the sequel.

I hope the challenging stage design, neat fantasy graphics, the big cool bosses, the epic soundtrack and the devastating sword (compared to Zelda II's and Wonderboy's little knives) will make a comeback.

As long as ActRaiser II contains the good bits from its prequels action stages, along with some kind of save/overworld/password-function after every stage I'm happy to play another challenging action-only-ActRaiser.
I know there's no sim stages, and I've come to terms with it, so I won't be disappointed about that fact nowadays.

I made it through the final boss rush of ActRaiser (it was really an accomplishment) so I'm ready for ActRaiser II now.

Now all we need is an Act Raiser III. We can't let this dissapointingly unique game be the only one of its kind.
