You're welcome but I already have my own favourite master-challenge of playing and beating the game.
What is this master-challenge of yours? I would be happy to try it out! ^^

Default Jeez!

Okay, very interesting discussion going on here, but start a new thread or something, will you?

Thank you, Clayfrd! I LOVED making it - perhaps to the degree of it becoming incomprehensible to anyone else : P

Applying your logic however, the only one of those games that even registers in the top 10 of the N64's sales figures is Pokemon Stadium at 3.3 Million which, while impressive is nowhere near the 11 Million or 8 Million that system sellers like SM64 or Goldeneye achieved.

Pokemon was a system seller for Gameboy not N64 where it just benefitted from the installed userbase of the brand (something like 20 Million worldwide, most of whom clearly didn't care that much about buying an N64 when only 1 in 5 of its rabid fanbase bought stadium.
Yes I do know what "/" means.
I just explained why those games WERE relevant to the system and that has nothing to do with ONLY sales and top 10 stuff. Sales are a part of it, yes, but critical acclaim, game quality and innovation for there time too.
I just forgot to say I consider all of these games, even the Pokémon games, good~very good. They were a success in every way. A game that sold more than 1 million units is a success in my eyes.
Substandard and average games are other games, not the ones you marked with blue. All the mentioned games have a good overall quality. I own and played the heck out of each of the mentioned games.

You too should know that not only Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2, but Mario Party 1, 2, 3, the other Pokémon games and Yoshi's Story have sold a few million games too.
Of those blue games the worst seller was Kirby 64. Unfortunately it came a little bit too late in the N64s life time (2001) and for a high price (70€), still it managed to sell 2 million copies worldwide, not shabby huh?

Of course that's just a quarter of the cake, if a game must sell at least 8 million copies to be a success but I have just a different point of view. I know Wii is other dimensions with 20 million sales being a success and 1 million sales is poor. But that's bullshist imo. 1 million games sold is a success, for me, and even for a company like Nintendo.

"Correct" in SKTTRs weird logic. Just because Nintendo published them doesn't make them Nintendo developed games and as he pointed out there were actually many other games developed on Nintendo's behalf by third parties such as Camelot that I neglected to highlight.

It's like with all those games that have Miyamoto or Yamauchi listed as the "executive director". Does anyone think he really does anything other than walk in the the room, nod and leave.
Weird logic because I took your loose points and Refas incomplete points into consideration for a compromise.

My own weird logic would be something completely different without room for both of you to compromise.

I don't like people mixing up my words. A game that's published by Nintendo isn't automatically a Nintendo game!
A game that's supervised / produced / is fianced and gets the ok by Nintendo is a Nintendo game.

I repeat: The only game in Refa's list that doesn't fall into the Nintendo category is Mischief Makers which was supervised by Enix. Nintendo was just the publisher, like with many other games that don't fall under the Nintendo radar even if they were published by Nintendo like Bomberman 64 (Hudson), NBA Hangtime (Midway), Glover (Hasbro) etc.

Clearing things up: Getting back to the orginal context of Refa's "Nintendo's N64 games and Rare's N64 games" list all of Refa's games are valid, except Mischief Makers.

All the games Refa mentioned under Nintendo could be released under Nintendo's banner on VC, except Mischief Makers.
Mischief Makers is valid in another view: in the view that SQUARE ENIX could release it on VC.
The thing with Rare still leaves room for speculation, but rest assured DKR and DK64 could be released by Nintendo in edited form.

Backwards turbo jump through the walls and doors and beating the game with as few stars as possible
Using the craziest shortcuts and stuff. No, I have no concrete plan. It's pretty random. Speedrunning mostly.

I am all about crazy shortcuts and such, but EXPLOITING GLITCHES?!?! That is no better than cheating in my eyes. You make the game a different one than the awesome classic Nintendo made if you do that! You, sir, are not a master of SM64, but of SM64 Glitch Edition.

To me, a game master is a person knowing all about the possibilities of the set of rules the developers meant for you to follow. Someone who has risen far above just being able to survive through it, but still not to the point of disrespecting it. A person living in harmony with the game, who knows all the little details programmers spent time making so fanboys like me could obsess over them. Also, I think war is SO awful and I want everyone to be happy together and declare me the prettiest Miss of this show.

You know, I've beaten this game countless times.......
whoa cool extreme loud and brutal catfight outside!! just watched it from my balcony....
anyway... i loved it on N64.... and then after beating Super Mario 64 DS two times. Once with 149 stars (because of a glitch I didn't exploit - 8 red coins in ghost garden that just vanish forever if you're not fast enough getting them soon) and then again the next day with 150 stars.

I watched some videos on youtube and then I thought: You did everything possible with SM64 so no disrespect but I thought I should try all those crazy glitchruns.

Yes, I'm the same, but SM64 has so many possibilities beyond that. I don't encourage cheating and exploiting but I wanted to know which funny things were possible.

And back in the day, sales for games were much lower than what they are today.

I'd buy a copy of that.

This thread must have subliminaly influenced me to play the game as last night I had a strange urge to do so. I ended up going back to my VC version and finishing off Hazy Maze cave and beating most of Shifting Sand Land.

I'd forgotten how awful the camera seems in 2010 and how difficult I still find playing this game with anything other than the great N64 controller it was designed for.

*Also*

1. can we seperate this thread so that the secondary discussion doesn't clutter up WP CEO's thread.

2. SKTTR, stop sexually harrassing the newcomers! Just because none of us would send you those pictures you asked for doesn't mean a new person will

LOLs all around! Also, I think I will hop on the "not sending pictures of real self" bandwagon.

Awesome to read about my subliminal influence powers And I actually think the camera is easier to control with the C stick!
