Default Final Fantasy III (VI)

What are the chances of this game coming to VC soon? This is the one Final Fantasy I am dying to play. FF2(4) is fine and all, but I'm really holding out for 3(6)

Back when Square made their big "Final Fantasy to VC" announcement last year, they only mentioned FF1, 2, 3, and 4, with 1 and 4 coming to NA and of course all of them coming to Japan. 6 wasn't mentioned. Some people think they're holding back on that one until they can make a DS remake of it like they did for 4? I think it's only a matter of time, but unlike Capcom, Square's in no rush to dump everything they have on the VC.

Exactly. Nothing above IV was mentioned in the announcement, not even for Japan.

I'm sure it's a matter of time. Square Enix have been kind to Wiiware over the years, so I'm sure we'll see the rest, provided the first four didnt sell horribly (Which I doubt).

Oh, it's only a matter of time, to be sure. What remains to be seen is whether they try to do anything more profitable with the games before the inevitable VC-dump.

It was released on the GBA a few years ago with a better translation. If you have a DS with a GBA slot you could always play it that way.

Final Fantasy V/VI The After Years perhaps?

Or FFCC: My Life As A Cashcow...

I was thinking of something along the lines of a 3D DS remake.

I don't think VI would work for a DS remake. They'd have to remake so much more than before, which would be much costlier than the more NES styled FFIII and FFIV (FFV would also be pretty easy). Not saying that they wouldn't do it, but it would be riskier than remaking IV.

They should remake it for PS3. VI is one of my favorites and it would be awesome to see it re-imagined in 3D.

I guess I'm alone in thinking VI doesn't need to be remade at all... They should also stay far, far away from any more VII remakes/spinoffs, too.

I don't think it's such a long shot as they have released 1 and 2. They seem to be going with how they were released here originally ( 2 was actually 4; 3 was 6) so I think the long shot is for North America to actually get the full series as it was originally released on the NES/SNES in Japan.

True, but improved presentation is not a bad thing.

VI and up don't need to be remade (well, IX might work, because it is more of a throwback;a 16 bit version of FFIX would be awesome ), but a VII remake on the PSP using the Crisis Core engine would be pretty cool.

FFV DS needs to happen.

In Regards to FFV:
Kotaku, the Gamer?s Guide

I'm not sure what to expect by this news story. Whether it will be similar to a PSOne Classic or a PSP Remake ala I, II, IV.
I personally would have it be a PSP upgrade but I guess I will enjoy the same games either way, as long as it's playable on my PSP.

From recent news, it looks like it will be the PSOne Classic (not similar to one).

On first read I thought they had said it was going to be enhanced with CGI cutscenes, but now I see they are only stating that the PS1 version was updated from the original Super Famicom version. So instead of releasing Final Fantasy Anthology as a PS1 classic, they are simply taking the one game from that disc and releasing it?

Apparently. They're going to sell each game individually (I think they're already on PSN individually in Japan), hopefullyprobably for $5.99 a piece.

I agree. The PS1 versions of 5-6 aren't as bad as 1-2-4 though. Still not fantastic, but yeah.

Just out of curiosity what's the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger like.

I managed to make it through the PSX FF4, but only because I am a loser fangirl.

Actually, I made it through FF5, too, as it was the only (legal) version available for some time. I don't remember if I made it through FF6. I do recall that I really, really wanted to get through the Chrono Trigger port, but gave up very early in. It was...so slow...
