Is this the original game I've heard about, or something else?

The Game Boy version is a sequel to this NES version. It's called A Boy and His Blob in The Rescue of Princess Blobette

Now that I know this is the original, next question is, is it worth getting? I never played this back then because I was too wrapped up in RPG's, so any advice would be helpful. The Wii game looks very interesting.

I've played the NES game on an emulator before and just couldn't get into it. The Wii game is brilliant though.

The original is a pretty good game (I really like it) but it's not for everyone. It's got an odd mix of exploration and platforming, and you have limited lives/continues (if you run out, you start the game over again). It's stylish, though, even for an old game.

One thing to think about... This game is heavily based on exploration, but nearly 95% of the exploring parts are optional (since it's mostly treasure gathering and only a VERY small amount of treasure is actually needed to advance the story).

When I took my NES down to Florida, this was one of the games my young siblings-in-laws loved best (ages 4 through 15). I think only SMB3 beat it in popularity.

I have to say I'm glad I took a chance and downloaded this after reading IGN's review(4.0 Poor). I understand it may not be for everyone, but I found it to be very enjoyable game. I think it at least deserves a 6 or 7 out of 10.

Same here, except I have yet to beat it.

Meh, I think I'll just get the Wii version instead. Sounds too frustrating to me.

Never played this before, but I think I give this a chance and download this next time my Wii is online.
