| I think the game has dated badly to be honest a lot of the rooms are repeated over and over again. |

| not downloaded. have it on Metroid Prime. first, the level design is bland and pales a lot compared to Super Metroid. but lets not forget this is a NES game, so it's not that bad. second, you're thrown into a big open area and don't know where to go. this one also has no map. makes it difficult to navigate in these non-detailed vast labyrinths. this and the nonexistent story gives it a much more sense of loneliness, tension and hopelessness. furthermore it's more difficult than any other Metroid game. yes, it seems to be designed that you get lost all the time. ^^ i'd say if you dont care to die a hundred times, and if you're good in memorizing bland big 2D-landscapes and searching every corner in it, plus tons of gun'n'run action this one's for you. |

| I'm going to download it so maybe i can finally finish it from start to finish and not just use the justin bailey code. With the VC's ability to pause the game at anytime and go back to the wii menu it eliminates the need to write down a password everytime I want to quit for the day. I'm probably going to download some directions from gamefaqs though because it is quite the maze. |

| You know, it's been since the 80's since I played Metroid. And back then this was the cream of the crop to me.. I played it through w/o any codes or cheats & loved every second of it... slowdown & all.. While I'm sure it won't stand the test of time particularly well, I'll pick it up once it's released Stateside. It may not be something I'll play religiously but for $5, it's worth another play 2 decades later.. I remember it having a very large landscape & while in this day & age, it may seem particularly difficult w/o a map, I'm sure my memory will serve me well. I was floored w/ how much I could remember from the original Zelda 20 years later. I finished it in no time & got all the hearts, items, & secrets w/o using a walk-through or anything. It's almost spooky at how well I could remember that stuff not having played it in so long..

| I know I won't be downloading this version, seeing how it will run slower than the extra in Metroid Prime (and won't allow to save, either). Just like happens with the Zeldas already in Collector's Edition, they're now charging money for worse versions of something they gave out for free in the past. At least they could allow you to play in 60Hz, or provide a guide or a scanned map to justify the purchase. |

| I have the version in Metroid Prime. The game is mad difficult as it requires old-school pioneering skills, but the game is still very immersive on its own merits. Defeating Mother Brain and escaping Zebes before the explosion is satisfying.

| Big Boo | Played trough this once (yes, cheating) and since I didn't own a NES to train my 2D skills on it was insanely hard. It was rather confusing finding your way around since the NES shouldn't be able to handle a big world like that which resulted in everything looked the same. And I still claim that the Motherbrain is the hardest boss ever. The biggest problem is that you must complete the game in one go. He you die once or restart the game you will start with just 30 energy. Sure, it works in the early Brinstar but it almost impossible to start in Kraid's Lair or something. Even though the first game isn't that good it certainly has created one of the best gameseries ever. Let's just hope for Super Metroid in a soon future.

| Lakitu | Metroid 1 is indeed difficult, but I wouldn't in any way call it bad. It's merely dated. I admit, I like the update Zero Mission quite a lot, and probably won't get VC Metroid because of it. You just can't beat the extra content that ZM has, at least in the ways of these games. I'm sure the Corruption will beat it many times over, but hey, we'll see. If Nintendo played they're cards right (which they should of, they've been working on this game since before the Wii launched), this game will quickly become a Must-Have for all Wii owners. Because quite honestly, that list isn't that big at the moment. |

| Boo Diddly | I'm playing through Metroid right now and I have a question. I just got the wavebeam but now I can't freeze enemies anymore. Is there any way I can switch back to ice beam or is it just a flaw in the game?

My advice is that you keep the wavebeam as it kills enemies much faster than the ice. | |

| Boo Diddly | Im pretty much stuck with the wavebeam now anyway. You know what sucks too though, I only have to beat Ridley and Im good to go and kill mother brain. Then I fall down some hole in Norfair and I just can't get out. After some insane jumping while using morphball bomb I finally get only too fall in a new pit which is 2 blocks higher. So now I have to wait for death, as I stand in some death-acid or whatever. But because I got the Varia suit that takes forever. Finally I died, but then I gotta start with only 30 health! I got 6 tanks but they're always empty cus enemies only give you 5 health. *sigh* it's hardcore :P Damn I typed all this with my Wiimote :P

| Only get the ice beam when you go to face mother brain and the metroids, other than that keep the wavebeam, as far as health goes stand by a death acid pit and kill those little bird things that pop out of their. It takes awhile but its the best way to get your health back up.

| Big Boo | Completed it with the Justin Bailey code, Mother Brain was still hard though :/ hardest boss I've ever met in a video game.

| Me. The first I played the game I made my own map while I was playing. It took some time, but I finished the game without any guide or cheat or hints, just me and Samus. One of the best games ever on the NES.
