Default Zelda II:A major upset or an amazing rpg platformer

is Zelda II good or bad in your opinion

in my opinion it is a pretty challenging platformer but some think that it is a major upset what do you think?

I have question, didn't just ask people whether OoT was better than MM? Have you actually played these games? On topic, think Zelda II is a great game and if it didn't have Zelda in the title few people would hate on it.

Well Zelda II didn't come out in '98 and Bowser doesn't need to share their opinion.

If you haven't played OoT or MM how is it you know how much you like them?

OOT > Epic for its story and music.
MM > Epic for its collecting and transformations.
Zelda II > You should get if you like challenging platform style with a level up rpg element. The game might be a bit different from the other Zelda' s but its fine with me. Still it is an original Zelda you musnt miss (but thats my opinion).

If I should choose between those all I would go for OOT first, definetly if you never finished it (Its the feeling).
Allthough MM and Zelda II have a bigger replay value.

Zelda 2 was great for it's time.

Actually looking at Wiki... 1988 was a good year for NES games.

Zelda 2, Bubble Bobble, Bionic Commando, Blades of Steel, Contra, Metal Gear, RC Pro Am, Super Dodge Ball, Super Mario 2.

Wow - that is quite an impressive list! And, on topic, Zelda II is an outstanding game. And I say that without nostalgia biases as I didn't play it before it was on the VC...

Zelda II is an excellent game all-round. The only thing I don't like about it is that getting to the final palace and then the maze in the final palace itself are both pretty difficult.

Major upset. Zelda II had some great ideas, but the execution left a lot to be desired. The awful save system was the real kicker.

With the VC the save system is no longer needed.

Well, after being put off by it on Zelda Collector's Disc (Let's face it, you'd rather play the other 3 games when you boot it up), I ve brought the NES Classics version to find out just how good/bad it is.

Well, most of the time I have no idea where I need to go and the town folk arnt much help, but after much searching I found dungeon 1, and after a fair few attempts I completed it.

Will I find dungeon 2? Stay tuned...

I have this on the collectors disk and much like the first Zelda I've never been able to get into it properly. Perhaps now I'm better acquainted with side scrolling RPG's through Dragon's Curse and Dynastic Hero I could give it another chance though.

I have this on Zelda Collecters Disc. Didn't like this much though, even though I like the othe Zelda games. I just find the level grinding dull and I hate having to talk to the wrong person, only to find they are a bat who takes a bit of health away.

I don't think I've ever had trouble finding the dungeons in Zelda II(despite my horrible sense of direction). It's beating the dungeons that always stump me.

Castlevania appears to be the only easy Metroidvania (series) that I know of...and Metroid. Wonder Boy In Monster World, Zelda II, and even Cave Story are all quite hard.

I wouldn't really call Zelda II a metrovania. Sure, it's a platfoRPG, but the emphasis isn't on exploration and backtracking when you get new powers like it is in the Metroid and CV games and even some of the Wonder Boy games.

A great game. I'm not comparing it to other Zelda games, because it's completely different, but overall, it's a really good game. I've spent hours on end leveling up and exploring the fields, and of course trying to figure out all of the games secrets. I'm currently in the Great Palace with full stats. I'll beat it someday.

Also, this game has a good soundtrack, even though it's only like four songs. The songs are even better when you hear them re made in such titles like Super Smash Bros.

Y'know, I had always thought this game was bad, probably from either not being able to get the candle when I was small, or hearing all the bad reviews. But, this game is amazing. It has a great style, fun battle system, great magic system, and perfect difficulty.

I'd rate it just under Crystalis on my top 10 NES games.

I like playing Zelda games. I have played Zelda 2 and its a great game. Story is amazing and gameplay is fun with the Wii Remote, simple as that and way better than the gamecube version. Its a best rpg game I have played.
