Question Super Star Wars?

Any chance any of the SNES Star Wars games would get VC'd?

Not until Lucasarts starts supporting the VC. When? We don't know.

So LucasArts has to OK it first, and then Nintendo has to decide to VC it?

Soooooooooooooooo...........basically it'll never happen huh?

Who knows? Now that you're mentioning them, I could see the SNES Star Wars games being an exception from all the license trouble, as they were developed by companies that probably don't exist anymore, so LucasArts probably not only has the rights on the license, but also on the games themselves.
...and with the VC fetching quite a buck and LucasArts not being one to turn down a handful of easy money, so they might release them at some point.

Then why isn't Lucas Arts releasing a classic adventure game compilation? I want to play Grim Fadango...

Because they feel like Adventures are dead.
That's why they already cancelled two new Indy point and click adventures, cancelled their Sam & Max 2 before Telltale Games went to do their own episodes, and even let the Monkey Island series die after trying to modernize it by any means by killing the tried and true clicking mechanics.

It could actually be more of a problem if the original developer went out of business. If Super Star Wars (as well as Super Empire and Super Jedi) went up on VC, Lucasarts would probably have to tangle with the issue of having to pay royalties to the developers. Since it'd be a hassle to track them down now, I don't think Lucasfilm would bother doing so. Why go looking for trouble when new licensed games are (relatively) easier to develop?

Still, I could be wrong... Even so, I'd personally prefer Star Wars NES on the VC. Many happy hours with that one.

I'd love to see the wacky Japanese Star Wars game made by Namco.

I'd still like to see zombies ate my neighbors. Even though I have the genesis cart it would be a great addition to the virtual console.

LucasArts already has an Indy game coming to Wii with one of the old Indy adventure games on as a bonus for the Wii version. If that sells enough they may consider more support including VC support. I thought the SNES games were developed in-house.

If it's not Fate of Atlantis, they're morons.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (Wii) is confirmed to have Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (PC) as an unlockable.

Well, hurray then! Even if the new game sucks, it will still be worth it for Fate of Atlantis.

That's great news. A DS port of The Fate of Atlantis and Raiders of the Lost Ark would be better but I'm not gonna complain.

I think old PC classics would make a good entrance at the Virtual Console.
Fate of Atlantis for 800-1000 Wii Points would be a good deal I think, for both sides. And eventually that would lead to more Lucas Arts adventures / games.

Speaking of Star Wars, there were 4 N64-titles:

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

Star Wars: Episode I - Racer

Star Wars: Episode I - Battle for Naboo

I never played Naboo, so this would be my download.

I played, and had all 4 of them.

Podracer was OK.... and fun, for a different pace of SW. Naboo was a "newer" RS but not nearly as good as RS was. THOUGH.... the cheat unlock levels had a badass level where you can fly as Maul in the Infiltrator through Coruscant.

RS of course is THEE definition of a SW gaming. SOTE is also very good. If they put them up for DLoad, I'd probably get all 4, or at least the first 3 and maybe not Naboo.

Do we really need foour huge pics of N64 boxes when listing the N64's Star Wars games? Unnecessary scrolling...and anybody with a slow connection will especially thank you for it.

But yes, they were all four really good. I gotta know, coz I have em all here...like more than two third of the pal N64 library. ^^

There are still people around using modems...
And smaller pics can also delight your eyes.

Edit: Was it really necessary to bring this thread back from the dead for this kind of discussion?

Wiki says Zombies Ate My Neighbors is coming to VC...TBA...which tells us nothing...however...if this is true...then there will be no reason for Super Star Wars 1-3 not coming to VC. I guess you could call this post, "A New Hope" haha

ZAMN was ESRB rated way back in 2006 for the VC. The rating has been removed for well over a year so no one, other than Wikipedia apparently, believes it is coming out anymore. If you couldn't tell from my user name, I'd absolutely love to see some LucasArts support on the VC.

So would I. They've released the old games on Steam and we know that the Wii can manage the Fate of Atlantis so maybe just maybe.

Well, downloading these games should not only show Lucasarts we want more SW games, but maybe show companies like Disney there's money to be had with downloabable goodies.

The press release mentions that the rest of the trilogy is already coming, with more LucasArts games on the way. Rogue Squadron? Zombies Ate My Neighbours? Maniac Mansion?

You know what? I still have the maps my grandfather drew for his DOS copy of Maniac Mansion. I hear that in the ancient days before GameFAQs, people had to do that sort of thing. Madness!

Your grandfather??? When I was a kid I have drawn maps... But....

I still draw maps!! The last maps I have drawn were for Paradroid (C64), Super Paper Mario (Wii) and The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES).

I do this again if that makes the experience more comfortable and better... and after all I just like drawing.

You drew maps for Super Paper Mario?! You should upload a pic. That's crazy. I take it for granted that maps are provided online. Does that make me a lazy gamer?

I just do it for games where I feel they deserve it and where they're just pretty useful for me and enhance gameplay.

In Super Paper Mario I was always confused in the overworld Flip/Flop city. It was mirrored and the many elevators and pipes and 2D/3D ways... that was just too much to grasp (in a positive way)

I already beat the story and seen the ending, but that was just 1/3 of the game. The best stuff comes after you beat the game. A shame because most people just beat it and never get back into it. They miss the best part and think they have a worthy opinion on the game...

So I sat down with different colored pens, and I've drawn out the whole map and all floors, items, buildings, paths, secrets, etc. It was great help to max out the game file (I love to find 100% collectables and max out everything in the Paper Mario series.) and getting everywhere faster. I was lost more than just once or twice so my map kept me on the right track. It was also good to compare both cities (the normal and the mirrored one) to find hidden stuff in one and vice-versa.

@Rhymetyme91: You take for granted that you find maps online? But someone needs to draw them first.
As many games these days have auto-maps (plus internet providing many game maps), there's certainly some drawing-lazyness spreading.
It all comes down to the individual and the game. Self-drawn maps are always useful and when I feel the gameworld is very complex but don't want to miss something, then I have to help myself somehow.
Mostly it's just generic scribble (like I did for Super Mario RPG and Skies of Arcadia Legends) and sometimes dedicated colorful paintings where I put lots of time into (like I did for Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance).

Thank you, LucasArts for add Super Star Wars on the VC !

Super Star Wars is amazing and one of the best soundtracks of 16 bit generation.

I´ll be waiting for Super Empire Strikes Back and Super Return of the Jedi and Rogue Squadron for N64 too.
