Post Wii Wheel (aka: plastic shell) sold separately for $14.99 (Joystiq)

If you're just sure Nintendo's Wii Wheel peripheral is going to make your Mario Kart Wii game that much better, you may want to nab a second (remember, one comes in the box). Lucky for you, Gamestop is more than happy to take your money well before the game's April 27th release, with their latest circular promoting preorders for the game and - what's this? - a single Wii Wheel sold separately for $14.99.

If you ask us, that's pretty steep when you consider the Wii Wheel is just a plastic shell; you're better off putting that $15 towards a used Gamecube controller which, praise be to Bowser, will work just fine with Mario's latest racing simulator.

Dunno 15 bucks for a hunk of plastic? Oh right sorry I forgot a hunk of Nintendo's plastic.

I doubt I'll use the wii wheel anyways.

Lol, just force your friend who's forcing you to get the thing for YOUR Wii to play 2 player to get HIS butt in gear and buy the game. So HE (or she...don't want to be sexist here) can have their OWN Wii Wheel.

Now, if you're buying it for little Jimmy or Bobby Sue or possibly your spouse or significant other, all of which might not own a seperate Wii, I can understand. But you better think about how much you're gonna be playing with them together. If you only see yourself playing this thing together once or twice and then all other times one person can barrow the Wii Wheel that came in the box ...then there's no point to buying a second one.

Maybe I'll sell the one that comes with my game for $13.99.

I bet I could make a pretty nice wheel-shaped shell to put a Wiimote into for less than $15, though...

I think playing with the wheel sounds like a blast but I'm not going to go out and spend an additional $14.99 to buy Nintendo's wheel for a second person. I think there are other wheels on the market that are not as much money. I think a fair price for a shell would be $7.99.
