Mario and company might not be kicking ass as soon as you expected

Those of you looking forward to the release of Super Smash Bros Brawl (that's pretty much everyone, then) will no doubt be upset to know that rumours are currently doing the rounds that the game has been delayed yet again.

SPOnG reports:

GameFly, a games rental service in the States, now has the game's release date down as 12/03/2008. Meanwhile, retailer GameCrazy list the release date as even further back than that: 31/03/2008.

Additionally, Nintendo World Report claims that a "trusted source" has told it that Wal-Mart has updated its corporate database to reflect a March release for Smash Bros.

Other US retailers such as Amazon and EB Games are still listing the game as due on February 10th. That date already reflects a slip, with Reggie Fils Aime, Nintendo of America's president, having announced at E3 that the game would be released on December 3rd.

Why doesn't Nintendo just put this to rest by saying it's true or not true? If it is true then I'm getting No More Heroes instead, and I'll get SSBB a couple months later when I get some extra $$$.

SSBB is not delayed. It's a month until release. That'd be like if (when the original release was Decemeber 3rd) Nintendo waited until Decemeber 2nd to tell us.

How is one day the same as 31 days? I'm thinking there is something to this story because the stores gain nothing by screwing the release date up and moving it back another month.

I'm not exactly happy about it being delayed but I'd rather they released the game when it was finished than rushing it out.

Japans release is 24th Jan I think,

I extremely doubt it's been delayed. probably just Europes release date is in March.

I'm using that example in that it's like telling us there's a delay very near the release date.

I would be hoping the same thing as you, but when you look at Corruption, Super Paper Mario and Zack & Wiki being released months and months after you guys get them then there's not much hope.
