See Sonic 4's Splash Hill Zone, Eggman

For those of you who have yet to decide to boycott Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Sega has released some new media of the downloadable rodent-racing platformer. Including ... the second known character to appear in the game. Okay, before more of you start boycotting, it's just Eggman (or Dr. Robotnik, or whatever). And he's shown in one of his spheroid flying vehicles, implying that he's in the game in boss capacity only.



The site also features a few screens, music and a description of Splash Hill Zone, which can be summed up as "Green Hill Zone in HD." And that's a good thing, right?

Its hardly a sequel to the MD games when they use the Adventure character art and refer to Eggman as Eggman. Retro nuts like me want DOCTOR ROBOTNIK, even if it's just for this game...

So do you also complain that "Princess Toadstool" and "King Koopa" are now referred to by their official names as well?

I think it's a regional rather than retro thing. It was always Dr. Robotnik in the EU when I was playing the SMS and MD games and the enemies were named badniks.

I always preferred Robotnik to the name Eggman.

Nintendo's Mario track record has been better then Sonic's. ;P

It's really the only complain I have. That, and maybe the plot (Eggman hit by the recession?)

The only thing that really concerns me is this:

Eggman regroups with a new objective; to revisit and refine the best of his creations in an effort to finally rid himself of Sonic!

Does this mean all the boss fights are rehashes of old ones? I thought the game itself was supposed to be a fanservice enough. This just comes across as lazy to me.

A lot of the badniks are old ones, so that's probably what they mean, and the odd old boss perhaps...

I'd like to think that they are referring to Metal Sonic. Rehashing old bosses isn't anything new. The battle in Sky Sanctuary in S & K had Metal Sonic in a recreation of the boss battle in the first game.

His name was originally Eggman in Japan, Robotnik is some silly localized name that they used.

Don't forget that Princess Peach allways known as Peach in Japan Just decided to have her known as Toadstall in the west only later on they decided to change it to Peach Toadstall .

Yes it was originaly Eggman but its a horrible name, he'll always be Robotnik to me, superior in every way and form.

Don't get me wrong. I see nothing wrong with rehashing, but that made me think all the bosses are going to be like that.
