Post Rumor: Rock Band 2 will import LEGO Rock Band tracks

Wired's GameLife cites a "highly-placed source close to Harmonix" as informing the site that Rock Band 2 owners will be able to rip tracks from the LEGO Rock Band game disc, just as they were able to do with songs from the original Rock Band. The source also notes that a "small fee" will probably be involved -- again, just as with Rock Band to Rock Band 2 song importing. ($5, in case you forgot.)

Along with this rumored feature, the site has posted a list of upcoming DLC, including 10 tracks from Queen and three from The Raconteurs due in October. Three songs from The White Stripes are listed for November release. Undisclosed material from Attack! Attack! and The Duke Spirit appears as undated Rock Band Network content.

When contacted for comment, Harmonix told Joystiq, "While we don't comment on rumors or speculation with regards to our upcoming downloadable content, we can promise that the Rock Band platform is poised to remain the unchallenged best value and source of music for rhythm games."

This supposed "leak" is very conveniently timed, given that Guitar Hero 5 releases tomorrow. Doncha' think?

So if I buy Rock Band 2 used for like $30, I can then rent Rock Band and Lego Rock Band and import all their tracks to play whenever I want after I return those games...? I can't argue with that.

And AC/DC Live, not sure if the song packs work like that.

There's a small fee to do it, 400 points for RB on xbox 360. £3-£4 for 60ish songs is pretty good to me
Rockband 2 really does have great value. Shame the DLC is a little pricey.

You need to also buy a transfer license from the PS Store. It's $4.99 but yes, you could do that.

The AC/DC pack has a code in the manual that lets you transfer the tracks over. If you buy it used, chances are someone redeemed the code already.

Still, $10 for what, 50 new songs? Not a bad deal. (Note: I don't have any idea how many songs are in RB1 or Lego RB.)

Yeah, it's a great deal. I just wanted you to know that there is a fee involved to transfer the songs over.

Rock Band has 58 songs, 55 of which are transferable. I'm not sure about LEGO Rock Band.
