Default Is DK64 a possibility?

I'm pretty much brand new here on these forums and I've read a thing or two about some Rare and VC issues. DK64 was my favorite game for the 64 (wasn't at the time but now that i look back i had more good memories of DK64 than OOT) and I'd love to see it added to VC. Seeing as Donkey kong Country and its sequel are on VC, would DK64 have any characters or attributes that would keep it from being released on VC? Or am i just misinterpreting everything about the Rare and VC issues.

Definitely. Once DKC 3 is released, there is almost no doubt of seeing DK64 appearing.

If I had to guess, I'd say DKC 3 will come out around Fall, and DK64 in early 2008.

We have characters from DK64 appearing in both Rare's portable ports and Paon's upcoming DK Jet. It will be released, there's no licensing issue here.

There may be a size issue though.

I agree after DKC 3 is released they will release at some point. It is the last DKC game released ever although it wasn't called DKC 4.

All told, if a Rare game was available for Virtual Console, I would want Jet Force Gemini or Perfect Dark first.

I'd say Goldeneye, then Perfect Dark... Then Jet force Gemini. However, DK64 will come regardless. Nintendo owns the characters, not Rare. I would like to see Diddy Kong Racing, but I doubt.

It would have been an insult to call DK64 part of the DKC series...they have nothing alike. i'd take any DKC game over DK64 any day of the week

I'm not agreeing much there.

I consider DK64 to be DKC 64 or DKC 4.

It just happened they didn't name it that way.

Does Super Mario Bros and Super Mario 64 play the same? Not really.

Is it a part of the Bros series?

Yep. At least I think so.

I really hope it does become available, but it's definitely not as likely as DKC3, what with it being more closely related to games like Banjo Kazooie and stuff like that.

Also I'm guessing you'll have to wait a while, seeing as the only N64 games released so far are all first-party Nintendo titles, so we'll have to wait and see.

What does that have to do with the likelihood of it showing up?

I think that putting 64 on the end of game names was stupid and so is putting DS on Ds game names

Well, it means that when someone makes a sequel they don't have to bother thinking of a fancy new name for it as they can just slap a 64 or DS on the end of it.

I think GX was ok but AX was stupid because it's impossible to find, and the Wii one would be ok as WX

I happen to be one of the very few in the world who has F-ZERO AX machines. 2 of the 36 in the USA I think.

Nope a pool hall.

It also has King of Fighters Neowave and two SF Rush 2049s.

well...maybe they were thinking along the same lines of what i think about it...

that's why super mario 64 wasnt called super mario 4

and that's why DK64 wasnt called DKC4

cause both those games are not like their early versions

then once New Super Mario BROS came out (notice he "bros"part of the title), they were fine calling it that because it played like the other mario bros titles.

game, set, and my match my brother

oh yeah...and the DKC series for the game boy color...

I agree after DKC 3 is released they will release at some point. It is the last DKC game released ever although it wasn't called DKC 4.

Yep. At least I think so.

well...maybe they were thinking along the same lines of what i think about it...

that's why super mario 64 wasnt called super mario 4

and that's why DK64 wasnt called DKC4

cause both those games are not like their early versions

then once New Super Mario BROS came out (notice he "bros"part of the title), they were fine calling it that because it played like the other mario bros titles.

game, set, and my match my brother

oh yeah...and the DKC series for the game boy color...
DKC remake was all they did for GBC

DKL series is the game boy one.

You mean DKC for GBA.
yes, GBA...my bad

as long as it doesn't disprove my point
DKC was released on GBC

Or am i just misinterpreting everything about the Rare and VC issues.
There would have been a conflict in releasing DK64 becuase rareware was bought by Microsoft, but since Donkey Kong is a nintendo made character there shouldnt be a problem.

I am curious to see how Banjo plays on the xbox 360.....

There shouldn't be a problem because donkey kong country 1 & 2 were made by Rare and they're out on VC.

And since the first two have already been released there should be no problems at all. That should end it right here.

it doens't matter at all if Rare has made DK64.
Everything DK related is onwed by Nintendo and it's a given fact that DK64 will appear on VC.
Also the banjo games will not appear in their N64 form on XBLA. That would require running a N64 emulator(= Nintendo owned code) on the Xbox360 and Ninty would never allow that.
I think Rare will reprogramm the Banjo games(with updated graphics etc) to make them run directly from Xbox360 hardware. I see no other possibility.

Also there was A Gameboy on Banjo Kazooie on the file select screen!

Unfortunately, you picked two of the least likely titles. Those are both Rare developed and Rare published.
I'd love to see them, but we have a better chance of seeing Banjo. Nintendo published it.
