| Neatly side-stepping the old thread about Japan getting this, what's everyone's thoughts about it now they can't moan about not having it? Come on then, it can't be just me that got it! I was talking with some friends about this only last night, comparing the different F-Zero's, and I said that after playing the Cube one, this may be a terrible come-down. I am man enough to admit when I'm wrong - I forgot how fantastic this game is! I got it about 1 in the morning and played it straight till about 3 or 4. I've done the Death Race, Novice mode and nearly finished Normal mode. In all, this is well worthy of your cash - unlike the SNES one it has multiplayer (2-4) and having started on this version and then getting the Cube one, going back to the SNES original for the first time was a bit of a blow, I still can't bring myself to finish it - I just don't like the gameplay style, I much prefer the change they went with here. In fact, due to the Cube version being ultra hard in Story Mode, I think this one is the one I've enjoyed the most. So, hurray for one hundred (and one) VC games!

| Rabid VC Fanboy | Yep, I agree. This is the best F-Zero game. I did manage to unlock everything in GX except the staff ghosts though (Yes, I beat every Story Mode chapter on Very Hard and went through at least one cup on Master with every single character for their special movies). The environments in this one are a little bland, but the music, gameplay and awesome sense of speed more than make up for that. Rainbow Road ftw. |

| Casual gamer since 1978 | I'm another one who don't like so much the classic F-ZERO titles gameplay (SNES & GBA). I just finished the very first championship, I still have to get the right feeling with the whole environment. It is funny to note that I originally hated also F-Zero GX, I bought it and then get frustrated quite fast so I gave it to a friend (but I was in the mood of throwing it from the window). Some times later I realized that it was impossible that I was the only person in the world who didn't like it, so I decided to give it another chance, tried some different vehicles to find the best for my style and then (finally!!!) I fell in love. Too bad I stopped playing just before unlocking AX tracks... Anyway I'm gald to hear someone else talking about the difficulty of the story mode; until now, I found just a friend of mine sharing this feeling.

| Rabid VC Fanboy | A few weren't that bad (I beat the one against Samurai Goroh because he crashed into a boulder and broke down, haha) but others (F-Zero Grand Prix, the time bomb one, the one where you escape the tunnels with the shutting hatches) are just bloody insane and I never want to see them again. Least I've got all AX characters without cheating or using an F-Zero AX machine (Which I can't find here anyway) |

I actually would download it probably, but using 200 odd blocks, I just can't afford the loss of memory

| Big Boo | I also had F-Zero GX on the Cube, and sold it because I simply don't like the idea of pacing without braking, I'll rather do an nice and smooth overtake than do a spinning attack and pending my opponent off the track. Normally I love racing games, for instance I sometimes starts up Gran Turismo just to play the endurance races again and I can't imagine how many hours I've spent in Formula 1 '97 so I really love racing games but for some reason I can't stand F-zero. It's like "wow, I'm going 1000 km/h and now there's a turn coming up, no problem I'll just press the right shoulder button and I can take it in full speed" and that is racing at it's most boring form, I remember that I used the brake once in GX and that was to try what would happened if I used it. It contains some good stuff too of course but they aren't good enough to write on the Wii

| The instructions in the Home-Menu do though! I've completed Novice and Normal mode, I'm working on Expert but it's *******ly hard. Then you unlock Master, which is just not going to happen.

| Rabid VC Fanboy | Yeah, Expert's kicking my ass as well. You also unlock the X Cup by winning every cup on it, which is mainly what I'm trying to do. I thought people said GX was harder than X? |

| Hehe I just conquered every Cup on Master difficulty. Love this game Anyone having trouble should make sure they invest in a GameCube pad pronto. They're much better for playing N64 games than the analogue-stick-sprouting SNES pad. |

| I completely agree with you on using the Gamecube pad over the CC for N64 games, it doesn't make any difference to my playing though.

| Basic tips: 1. Beginners should choose vehicles with a good body rating over all else. 2. Use side attacks to get round tight corners. 3. Don't waste time killing other vehicles unless you need to. 4. While in the air, pointing down makes you go a lot faster, and levelling out before hitting the ground makes you maintain speed. 5. You can recover from a skid by releasing everything and pushing accelerate again. 6. Dont make sudden movements on the control stick if you're only going round a slight bend because you may skid. 7. For most tracks, set your vehicle to 3/4 notches towards Max Speed. |

| Bullet Bill | I disagree, CC is better because it feels like a GC game if you use a GC controller, and thats pointless. |

Rubbish. The Gamecube pad does the best job for playing the game, I'm not using the Gamecube pad thinking, "Hey! It's like it's on Gamecube!" No, I'm using the Gamecube pad because it actually works as a decent pad for analogue control.

| Boo Diddly | I downloaded it today and I'm overwhelmed. This game is just great. It's difficult (not as difficult as GX though) but it that makes you play it again and again to finish everything. In the 1st Novice GP I became 2nd (Blame me You unlock characters by getting 1st don't you? |

| GX is MUCH harder than X. anyway.....X is awesome to the max. Make sure you darken your room and sit as close to your screen as you can get. Then turn up the Volume to the max. It feels like an arcade cabinet(thanx to the 60fps highspeed framerate) or a virtual reality rollercoaster. also it was the first games ever where I actualy had to throw up when playing it drunk(as hell) |

| Now I've found an unbelievable quirk in this game. Wait for it. I got the US ROM of the game (owning both the original cartridge and the VC version I think I'm justified lol)... and the speedometer actually shows higher speeds! Accelerating normally on the PAL version your vehicle will top out at about 700km/h, on the NTSC version its about 850! I think this is because the timer on the PAL version is fixed and actually runs in real time so when calculating the speed in every frame it knows it is going slower. Immense |

| F-Zero GX is of course the more technically advanced game. It has obviously much better graphics, fmv sequences for all 40 characters, a well-made story-mode and a fantastic build-your-own-customized-machine option. but nevertheless, F-Zero X got the better music, the Death Race and the X-Cup, which means you got unlimited random generated courses. and it really sucks that F-Zero GX didn't got that cup, too! So under these circumstances I really can't pick a winner. I would say F-Zero GX because overall it's more polished and well presented with all the character bios and everything... but since it doesn't have the X-Cup, I think F-Zero X has much more replay value. If I lived in Japan I would definately pick F-Zero X as a winner, since in Japan you could buy the Expansion Kit with track and car editor. |

| I LOOOOVE F-Zero X. For me, it's so much more playable than GX on the Cube, and I actually prefer the blurry pastel graphics of the N64 version. It's been 9 years since I spent $50 on the original cartridge, so another $10 here isn't going to hurt. I really expected the Cube version to be more like this great game, but who cares so long as this is still available! The track editor from the DD drive would be nice to have, but there's no need for greed. |

| I think X is better by default, since it didn't have the awfully directed FMVs that GX had! =P |

| Lakitu | I enjoyed the FMVs in F zero GX, added to the chesseyness of the games characters and made the Fzero world feel more alive, at least to me it did. |
