Default Pokemon Puzzle League

They have it in my local G/S for £9.99 right now, and I wanna know if I should bother getting it, or just wait and pay £20 for Puzzle League DS, I much much prefer this game when it has a theme, and the DS one looks bland, I'm not too fussed on the Wi-Fi either anymore.

So, you Americans have it on DS, excluding the Wi-Fi how good actually is it and how much is there to do?

I sure hope he hasn't waited over a year to find out whether we like it!

What do you like so much about PPL, kawaii?

Personally, I have picked up Planet Puzzle League (on the DS) and I like it quite a bit. It seems like they were trying to emulate Lumines a bit with the funky music and multiple backdrops/themes.

Well its a great puzzler with tons of modes & challenges & some of those are in 3d as in the tiels is wrapped in a tube .

The only bad thing is the horrible MIDI-like music which at least you can turn off .

If you have a DSi, the DSi shop (at least in Japan and North America) has a "Planet Puzzle League" 'express' version (I assume that if it hasn't already made it to Britain that it probably will)... so in a way if you really like the game and aren't sure which version to get (ie: the Pokemon one or the non Pokemon one) you could essentially get both for the price of the original DS version, thats what I've done (though I personally am a big fan of Puzzle Leauge/Panel de Pon)

The Puzzle League series is a very good puzzle series. (What a sentence!!)

I have Pokémon Puzzle League on N64.
It's one of the best games in the series with lots of content and modes.

Since there are licensing (title) issues with Tetris Attack (SNES), I hope for a Hanabi Panel De Pon (SFC) some time.

The best thing would be Mii Puzzle League on WiiWare
With leaderboards, 4 players and online.

I know a certain C64 game that was just like puzzle league, but with stages.
You could swap blocks with other blocks or spaces. But it wasn't a whole field of blocks.
It had stages with clever level design with just some blocks in them. Kinda like the original Puzzle League puzzle mode, only better.

Very big fan of Planet Puzzle League right here. The presentation in that game is phenomenal. It's probably tied with Picross DS as my fave DS puzzler.

I've played Puzzle League, and Tetris Attack, and found the Pokemon Puzzle League was more addicting. I liked BOTH games, mainly for one having the mario theme going, but the Pokemon one was very exciting and my wife and I still play it to this day.

I've debated for the longest time as to whether I should get this version or Plantet Puzzle League, but I've decided to get this version cuz I really wanted to try that 3D Mode and was really jonesing for a Puzzle League fix since playing Puzzle Challenge on my GBC 8 years ago. I love it! There's a ton of modes there for $10, 3D mode is amazing, and the Pokemon anime theme evokes a heck of a lot of nostalgia.

What are the licensing issues for Tetris Attack? I thought it was rated for VC at some point, but I can't seem to find anything on it.

The Tetris Company owns the rights to the word Tetris. If Tetris Attack were to be released in NA it would need to change its name like MERCS did or they would have to put Panel De Pon up instead.

Haha that would explain why the word "title" was in parenthesis when he said there were licensing issues. I sure wouldn't mind playing it under a different name, as long as everything else stayed the same. The best part about Tetris Attack, for me, was watching the two characters stand right next to each other and "attack" one another with blocks while making the most obnoxious noise. I always loved hearing Yoshi's back-to-back grunts while I mercilessly pounded Bowser in hard mode.

I don't recall PPL having this though, and while it may sound like kind of a lame feature to whine about--especially since PPL has so many more options, there was something awesome about watching my favorite Mario characters duke it out, and even the backgrounds behind the characters were eye candy. PPL could have done a lot with that visual...showing Pikachu send a bolt of electricity to whatever Pokemon he was battling, while letting out an angry "Pika! Pika!".

I recall a Mickey Mouse game on the Playstation being very similar to Tetris Attack in such a way...

If I'm not mistaken, Nintendo has made many Tetris games over the years. Can't they license the Tetris name? After all, they did it for Super Star Wars, and Tetris is much more popular (...I think). Even if it is widely different from Tetris, the name alone will probably sell many...er, virtual copies for Nintendo, as it did in the SNES era (which is why they changed the name in the first place)

Super Star Wars is not a license game. As for Tetris, everything there is a grey zone.
