Default New Anime channel on Sky

Hi gents...thought a couple of you (especially Jonno) might dig this news but it's really only for those in the UK.

Propellor (Sky channel no. 195) will be having a two hour anime slot starting 'real soon' (I can't remember the date...my bad ). The thing they're really plugging is classic Guyver!

Enjoy!

I love anything with a decent narrative, though I'm not enough of a fan of anime to go and watch crap-decent stuff, only stuff I consider worthy based on word-of-mouth and reviews. I haven't nearly enough time to waste.

Bebop and Trigun were incredible; extremely well written, and still highly regarded by me. Samurai Champloo was great, but not as great. FLCL was and is the best short episodic animation I've ever seen. Mind Game was incredible, it took animation to a whole new cerebral level, and when the same guy did Kemonozume, I watched and enjoyed it, but didn't fall the way I had for Mind Game. I only watched Evangelion the other month, because it'd always been the domain of utter geeks for me - how wrong I was. It was flawless, and its creator much more intelligent than me, which I adored. Same went for the prequel OVA of Rurouni Kenshin, though I've not watched the series nor the epilogue OVA. Can't waste my time with long-running TV anime, which always seems to succumb to filler beyond that which is reasonable. There are others, but I can't remember them right now.

As for animated Japanese films, there are a bunch every year that rank among the best feature-length productions worldwide. Mind Game I've already mentioned, but Ghost in the Shell and Innocence, Akira, Megazone 23 part 1, Steam Boy (yes, I loved it), Metropolis and everything Satoshi Kon and Miyazaki make I strive to hunt out and buy. There are others, but I can't remember them right now.

That's it for me, no fanboyism, just love for that which, when juxtaposed against contemporary works of narrative creativity, achieve the status of art.

^^Fire Emblem Anime^^

Also, I've seen Sprited Away and parts of Howl's Moving Castle. Both are well written and great fun to watch.
