Question Neutopia, A Rip-off or a Classic

I downloaded the first Neutopia for 600 wii points and I definately think that it was worth it (although I can see what it "copied" from tLoZ"), but I was just wondering what other people thought about it.

Do you think it is a pathetic copy or TurboGrafx Gold???

Both. It's definitely a rip-off (though not a pathetic one), but it's also an awesome game.

I think it and its sequel are both great games. Besides its not like you can find any other Zelda 1 clones this good.

Golden Axe Warrior.

Borrowing ideas from other games is fine, it happens all the time. Originality is a good thing but a game doesn't always have to be original to be good, some of the best games are the ones that take an old idea and make it better. It's only a rip-off if you copy everything and add nothing to it.

Yes plz.

We have entire genres of literature that started off as "rip-offs" of an original "classic" (where the word classic means, "everyone rips off this one"). So it goes with video games. Personally, I'd like to see more of these kinds of "rip-offs" in place of the games that try to be original and along the way forget to make the game fun.

It's a great game which takes a lot from the Legend of Zelda. Not so much 'The Poor Man's Legend of Zelda' so much as a great substitute.

I wrote a blog on the topic, actually. Cheap Plug!
