Default My Wii is HOT!

So last nite I sat down to play w/ my Wii & when I opened the entertainment center door where I have it kept, I noticed it was quite warm in there. So I touched the top of the Wii (I had it lying flat) & it was BLAZING HOT!! Like, it almost hurt my hand. So I turned it on so the fan would come on & set it upright so that it would have more exposed surface space in hopes that would cool faster.

After playing for about 20 minutes, it was an acceptable temp.. But I couldn't believe how hot it got when it wasn't even in use. Has anyone else noticed that? I may relocate somewhere it so that I can use the stand & have it sit upright (it fits awkwardly in my entertainment center like that) as I think that may alleviate the my heat concern. But I'm almost tempted to unplug it when I'm not using it if only to keep it from frying itself out. The entertainment center is reasonably ventilated so I don't think that's the real problem. Buy why would it get so hot if it's not even in use?

Weird...

Is it on standby, and more notably, in Wiiconnect24 when you're not using it? If it is, that's probably your answer, along with how tight a fit it has in your entertainment centre*!

If you want to keep it on Wiiconnect24 (With the orange LED), do what you plan to and put it in a more open space, so it can ventilate itself well.

Is it even possible to turn it off stand buy without messing with the plugs?

Hold down the power button on the Wii until the light goes red. That should do it.

I just turn wiiconnect off after I'm done downloading games, since I'm not using it for anything else.

Disabling "connection during stand-by" (or whatever it's called) is enough.

If you like to keep it on 24/7, I suggest getting a Wii intercooler.
