Default Music

What VC game, that is out now, has the best music?
I love to listen to the old blippy tunes of the games of
my childhood So please post what music absolutely
kicks ass. Personally I love the music to F-Zero which
is the game, out now, that has the best music.

EDIT: Only mention music that is good to listen to without
acutally playing the game

Apart from the classic Zelda and the Mario tunes,
I think the best soundtracks available on VC go to
Lylat Wars and ActRaiser, as well as Mystical Ninja.

Another games that should be highly recommended in the sound department:

DKC-series (really outstanding music)
Castlevania-games (classic tunes as well)
ToeJam-games (quite funky tunes)

Games with at least ONE CLASSIC track:

R-TYPE (level 1 is a classic)
Solomon's Key (only one track but never gets old)
Super Ghouls'n'Ghosts (level 1 is just cruwl)
Kid Icarus (the classic NES tune)
F-Zero-series (Mute city FTW)

Another personal favourites:

SimCity (loved it since I was a kid)
Dungeon Explorer (was an unexpected surprise to me)
Kirby's Adventure (love the fast-paced high-pitched happy-music)

I'm amazed no-one has jumped in and named Streets of Rage 2, widely considered to have one of the best soundtracks of any game, so I'm going to vote for that.

Personal favourites on the VC include ActRaiser and Super Castlevania IV.

I've downloaded a very few games, but it looks that A Link to the Past is able to charm me in every aspect.

So, my vote goes to Zelda 3, my preferred themes being:

Hyrule Castle
Darkworld theme.

Contra for the win at the moment, it's has some really catchy tunes.
Zelda games does have nice music when playing the game but I can't stand it just listening on it without playing the game. The Underwater Theme in Wonder Boy in MW is really nice aswell.

My votes go to Actraiser and Soldier Blade, but I definitely give high marks to Zelda: Link to the Past as well which was probably the first game to make me stand up and take notice to game music again after years of Commodore 64 gaming.

I need to check out Super Castlevania IV soon!

Streets of Rage (both versions) and Super Castlevania IV have my favourite tunes.
Oh, and Toejam & Earl!

I sort of excluded the Zelda games from my list, but since no-one else is, I'll add a vote for both Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time. The Forest Theme in OoT is one of the few pieces of videogame music I can listen to outside of the game.

If you all have some time, have a listen to this, I found it a few months ago and I'm sure you'll all enjoy it.

And I can't believe I forgot Street Fighter II. The music in SFII and SFIII:3rd Strike was brilliant (going off topic now...)
