Shadow Dragon Saga (FE1, FE2, FE3, FE11)
Jugdral Saga (FE4, FE5)
Sword of Seals Saga (FE6, FE7)

Radiant Saga (FE9, FE10)

Yes, it's a remake of the first Fire Emblem game starring Marth. That game never made it to NA/Europe (the 5 games after that also didn't), so it's basically a new game for us.

As for the questions:

12. What is your favorite laguz transformation? Hawk
13. Who is your favorite laguz? Naesala

Probably, given that Marth has been receiving coverage in SSBB and the fact that NA has got 2 portable and 2 console Fire Emblem games already.

I'll respond to the rest of the thread soon. I'm in the middle of vacation so internet access is iffy at best.

Wow, no one else has responded since my last post?

Anyway, my fave series is the Radiant series, since I haven't played through much of the other stuff yet. I'm not going to subject myself to Japanese language games. I have the two GBA games, but I've only just started the first one, so I can't judge those.

Of the two Radiant games, it's really hard for me to decide which one I like more. The first one is more traditionally linear in that it doesn't change your party around a whole lot on you, and you get to trace the character development of some of the key party members, etc.

Radiant Dawn wins out in a couple of nice gameplay advancements (allowing you more freedom with inventories, for example). Also, Ike is way more badass in this one. I actually really like the way the game makes you play as a few distinct party groups, too. It would work a lot better if the game were longer, because as it is you don't feel like you get to advance the party as well as you could, and it can make it tricky to really power up an end-game team, but in terms of narrative it's brilliant.

Ike is my favourite character. I'm sick and tired of RPGs where the main character is a hapless kid who's in way over his head. It's about time we get a main character who can kick ass and knows he can kick ass.

I've only played one Fire Emblem game, Radient Dawn.

It's a crazy crazy game, I love it. i'm playing on normal and it's foulely hard. but I wont give in. I'm only just beating part one right now, so i don't have many Favorite Characters. The Dark Knight is cool, but he's not good enough or something, it's like he has too much power. so my Favorite Characters are either Edward of Leodnario. Leodnario because he just looks pretty crazy, and when he levels up to a sniper he looks even better. Eward because he's a rooky who I've trained hard enough to be as good as the likes of Nolan and such. he as well looks insain with his swordmasters suit. The music in the game is really great as well, but Just today I've started to have problems with the game. It seams that i'm starting to get eroors. After selecting something the screen goes Blank and Says

An error has Occured

Press the eject button and remove the disc from the console. Then turn the power off. Please read the Wii operations Manuel more more information.

I don't know if this is just Fire Emblem, or my Wii all together, as it sounds more like I'm having a problem with my disc drive.

I'm playing through Fire Emblem right now on the GBA (well, playing the GBA version on the DS/GCN). As usual, the Lord character(s) is/are my fave(s). Eliwood and Hector in particular are pretty cool. I'm on chapter 16x (not sure how far—probably not far at all). Heh, I remember when I was playing Radiant Dawn, I started to get really sad when it became obvious that I was near the end of the game, because I wanted to keep playing and getting better acquainted with my team (and get them up to higher levels!).

Agreed. It was released in Japan in August, so given the usual turn-around times it could be here by January/February.

Shame. They're great fun. Tactical RPGs with a lot of great story elements (usually grand scale political stuff). Are you interested in the genre?

That's a little misleading as FE3 is a remake of 1 with an added Book, as well as FE11 also being a remake.

1. Who is your favorite male character? Joshua
2. Who is your favorite female character? Lucia
3. What's your favorite male boss? Caellech
4. What's your favorite female boss? Selena
5. What is your favorite game in the series? Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
6. What is your favorite saga in the series? Don't have one. Haven't played enough of the series.
7. How many Fire Emblem games have you played? Only the Sacred Stones and Radient Dawn
8. How many Fire Emblem games do you own? Only the Sacred Stones and Radient Dawn
9. What's your favorite weapon? Auldhuma(sp?) (Sacred Twin Sword)
10. What's your favorite class? Sword Master/True Blade
11. Going to buy Fire Emblem DS? Yes

Yeah, I've just never had an opportunity to get into the series. I've heard the Gamecube game is really good, so I'll look around and see if I can find a copy. I'll probably rent Radiant Dawn sometime soon though, so I can make sure I like the series.

You're like the first guy that's praising Radiant Dawn so much. Many people say that this is the worst FE game so far. Now I wouldn't say I agree with them, but it's definitely not better than the GBA games. On the other hand, I haven't finished the game yet. I'm currently at Part III - Chapter 4: The General's Hand. Is it getting better after that?

It's pretty awesome before that, too. I think people who whine about Radiant Dawn are the same people who whine about Sacred Stones—it's a bit different than the usual FE games, so they don't like it as much because it's unfamiliar. I'd say right now that it's about on par with Path of Radiance (which of those I prefer alternates quite a bit) and way better than the first GBA one. (Haven't played enough Stones to judge.) The shifting party dynamic between acts is one of the things I really like about the game! There's a battle later in Part III (or IV) where Ike's party shows up as reinforcements against you, and it's awesome.

Hmm, Fire Emblem 7 and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones are my favorite FE games, so that's not true.

Path of Radiance was good, but missed some important things (like Dark magic). My complains about Radiant Dawn is that you have to use different characters all the time and the story is not as good as the other ones. But I guess I need to finish the game, to get a overall opinion. Right now I'd give it a 7+/10.

I finished the other 3 games and I'd give Path of Radiance an 8+/10 and FE 7 and TSS both a 9/10.

I like FE:RD alot. Its the only one i have played but i like the stragity part of it. The story is cool and all but i like the fighting and stragity the best.

I want to know if you think they will ever make a more non-linar ( sorry for the spelling ) type game like this, or are there any out there atm?

I would love the stragity, battle, items, ect of FE but i want a free roaming feel added to it. Like you roam around and explore and get into battle randomly with randomly generated maps for your fight based on the terrian your in at that time. I guess kinda like FFIII, im playing that on the DS atm, but when you get attacked you use the FE chess like stragity stuff.

I dont know. I would love to see this as i like to explore and discover and, while im not too far into the game yet, there dosent seem to be alot of discovery or free roaming at all.

Thing I hated about RD was that you have like 70 units but only around 17 can come to the last 5 chapters, 6 characters are forced.

Fair enough! Personal preference! I for one didn't miss dark magic at all in PoR, and having to use different characters all the time is what made RD stand above the crowd for me. I thought that was an awesome plot mechanic.

I didn't mind lack of dark magic either. And I enjoyed getting to play so many characters in RD but hated having to bench some of my favourites for mediocre characters like Sothe and Miciah, and then the terrible Empress Sanaki. For example Heather is a terrible choice for endgame as shes a thief, and your forced to take Sothe instead (if Sothe wasn't forced she'd be coming into the tower).

Well, you do get dark magic in Radiant Dawn, but not in Path of Radiance. It doesn't really matter in Radiant Dawn anyway, since there are so many good/decent magic users that you'd be crazy to take your dark magic user anywhere (unless you're just forming parties based on the characters you like rather than their usefulness... which is fine, I suppose).

Well you don't get dark magic until the 2nd playthrough ( I haven't gotten past Part 1 yet on my 2nd) and there are only a few enemies with it so it's pretty much not there, also most of the mages are outclassed by melee units.

True on both counts. It's like dark magic was a rare bonus feature of the game. I think it's because there is so much other magic already and it all essentially does the same thing. It'd be like having four separate axe-wielding classes.

I liked Ike better in the first game, because I don't belive the overgrown muscles fit him. Just look at him in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He also has a better hair style in the first game.

I personally think I'm going to enjoy Radiant Dawn, because the dynamic party mechanic seems pretty awesome! But while I did enjoy Sacred Stones, it was a bit too easy for my taste. You also can't say I didn't like it as it was unfamiliar, as it was my first Fire Emblem game. They could have kept the world map and the wandering monsters, but they really should have taken the Tower Of Valni and the Lagdu Ruins out and added sidequests instead. THey could have made a different method for getting the bonus characters instead of repitition. This stuff took the skill out of Sacred Stones, as any moron can just power level.

Well, the game does take place several years later. Part of the reason I like Ike so much is because through these two games we get to see his development from rookie mercenary to battle-hardened beefcake general.

Yep, the game really starts to heat up at Chapter III. The best parts of the game are from there on in.

It sounds like the game has more than 3 chapters.

*I smile*

I think it may only have 4, but if I remember correctly 3 and 4 are pretty long.

When I first played it, it was my first FE game ever, so it scared me into playing on Easy. Then I did Path of Radiance on Normal and got part-way through a Normal run of Radiant Dawn. When I'm done the GBA games I'm going to go back for a Hard run of both of them in order.

I'm not very far on my SS hard run, and I did RD on easy and I can't really play on normal RD, because the reduced exp makes me sad

I first played on Easy (RD) and beat chapter 1, But then relized I wasn't challenging myself so I picked Normal. I was also a bit nervous picking Normal at first because the Game made it sound as if you needed to play the other games or this game first before trying it.

Normal offers more challenge, but not too much. It's enough to keep me on the edge of my seat when a big guy comes though.
