Default Birthday Present Help

Hey, I need a little help choosing a Birthday gift for myself. I was thinking of getting one of the following:
  • Command & Conquer 4 - C&C4 has a nice pre-order Bonus that I'd want, and I'm a fan of the series, but I've heard some negative things about it.
  • X-Supreme Commander 2 - Supreme Commander 2 looks good, and I've always wanted to play the original. It's cheaper and there's a demo, so that might sway my descision.
  • Starcraft Anthology - Starcraft is old, but the demo was fantastic. Plus, if I get it, I have a chance of getting into the closed beta of Starcraft II.
  • Bio Shock - I've always wanted to play Bioshock, but I keep putting it off, and now there's even a sequel. Should I still get it?
  • Vvvvvv - The Vvvvvv demo was simply amazing, and it was one of the best platformers I've played in a long time. It's cheap, so should I go for it?
  • Resident Evil 5 - I was extremely impressed with the demo of Resident Evil 5, and now that the DLC packs are coming out, I think it now might be a good time to check it out.
  • X-Super Street Fighter 4 - I really really really want to play Street Fighter 4, but I'll have to wait until April before I can get it. Should I bite, or should I wait just a little longer?
  • BlazBlue - BlazBlue is cheap and it looks very good, but I'm not as big a fan of weapon-based fighters as I am of hand to hand fighters. But I do want to support developers of such crazy games.
  • Raiden IV - I love Shooters, and Raiden IV looks top-notch. Plus, new games of this genre don't come often and get rare really quick. However, I have yet to beat Raiden III. Should I get it anyways?
  • X-Final Fantasy XIII - I was thinking of Getting FF13 for my bro, then playing it when he's done with it. Of course, that one'll be very risky.
  • X-Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 - And I really would like to play Persona 4, but I'm already getting an SMT game, and they are really long. Two at once would probably be a bad idea. But when has that ever stopped me?
  • X-Fallout 3 - I've been wanting play it for a while now, and I'd like to get the Game of the Year Edition, but I can't afford it at the moment. Would I be fine with the regular edition, or should I save my money for the "complete package"?
  • X-Burnout Paradise - I recently retried the demo, and I enjoyd it a lot more this time around. I'm thinking I'll put in for it, since it's cheap, but at the same time I think I should wait until I'm done with Burnout 3 before I plunge into another racer.
As you can see, this is kind of a long list. I'd really appreciate your help in wittling it down.

What's your actual budget? Since you can easily pick out 2-3 games on that list for the price of some other you've listed.

I can afford to get all of these. Anything $30 and under I can purchase myself, while the more expensive ones I'll have to convince my parents to get me, which hopefully won't be too hard.

Is fallout 3: GOTY really that expensive? I got the original for £19.99 new on release week.

The Starcraft box is cheap. If you get this, you should get something else cheap as well.

Again, cheap. Maybe $19.99 for a new copy. Put this on the list of things you can get alongside something else.

Definitely hang on for Super rather than getting the one that's out right now.

Too big a risk for someone like you! Plus, isn't this a thread for your birthday present? You don't want to get your brother's castoffs for your birthday.

Don't get the regular edition. The GotY edition comes with $40 or $50 worth of DLC, some of which is totally awesome. Definitely save up if you're going to make this one your selection.

Aside from Raiden 4, SMT and the fighting games, I don't think you'd like any of those other games.

You'll probably get too frustrated with the 3 RTS games. And you don't seem the type who can keep up with a story that's more complex than Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, so Bioshock, Fallout, RE5 and FF13 are out of the question.

And are you ****ing kidding wanting to play any platformer with your record?

Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4: Is not that easy for an RPG but if you have the experience them get it.

As for having two Shin Megami Tensei games it depends on what the other one is.

Super Street Fighter 4: If its anything the original SF4 then its not a casual game.

It's $60 over here, last I checked...which was 2 minutes ago.

I'm not really worried about the difficulty so much as the length. These games are known for being incredibly long, and seeing as how I already have one SMT game that I'm already getting for my B-Day(the new one for the DS), as well as one I already own that I should play through real soon, I don't think I'll have enough time to play them all.

Of course, it appears Amazon has plenty of copies, so I guess it's no rush. I'll just get it later, once I'm done with the other 2.

As for Super Street Fighter 4, I've yet to play a fighter where the complexity turned me off, save for Street Fighter 3, but that was due to the fact that most of the complexity lied in the parry system, which I didn't particularly like, and has been tweaked in the 4th game to make it less of a focus, apparently.

@Jogurt

Thanks, man, you helped me knock off 3 games at least, especially with Fallout 3. I didn't realize how much the DLC actually cost! I know I'd want to get all of the packs, so I'll just save up for the GOTY edition later down the road.

Also, I'd just like to mention that I added a new game to the list, and I'm changing the RE5: Gold Edition to just the standard RE5 - it's cheaper that way.

Eh, I decided against Burnout Paradise. I'll just wait until I finish Burnout 3.

Okay, I finally tried the Supreme Commander 2 demo, and I can't say I was blown away by it. It wasn't at all bad, but it just felt like Supreme Commander 1.5 in some cases, yet it also felt like it was missing something, I guess. It didn't show off the skirmish or multiplayer modes, though, so I can't honestly say it gave me a reasonable impression of the final product. I've yet to get the first game, actually, so I suppose I'll just wait until it goes down in price and I've beaten the original and its expansion before I bother with the sequel.

Okay, I decided I won't get Command & Conquer 4 until I beat C&C 1-3+Expansions, which is obviously gonna take a while, so that's out.

So now I'm in the home stretch. I'd like to take this oppertunity to thank everybody for all their help, I really appreciate it.

Now for the final question, which I suppose is more for myself than anyone else:

Should I get Raiden IV, which the only available version is the Limited Edition version, or should I trust that I'll be able to find it later?

Should I get BlazBlue, or should I pass, seeing as I'll probably get Super Street Fighter IV sometime after it's released?

Should Resident Evil 5, despite still having RE1 and Dead Space to play through?

Should I get Supreme Commander Gold, despite it having a terrible interface and an improved sequel on the way?

Or Should I get two of either Bioshock, Starcraft Anthology, or VVVVVV, or perhaps all 3, if I get some Birthday money, thus forgoing the more expensive games that I may not be able to obtain if it wasn't for such a special day?

I can rephrase this. Great FPS, best RTS, and great platformer or some expensive new AAA game that you won't beat all the way through?

...you know, you got a point there. Thanks a lot Spore. Now I just have to figure out how I can convince my mother to order two games for me, since I emptied my debit card.

Yeah, I know, but that does mean that it'll only be produced in limited quantities, probably the same way Metroid Prime Trilogy was. Once the supply runs out the prices will go up. It is plan B if my parents say no to the whole those other 3 games, and if not, I'll probably pick it up once I have some extra cash lying around.

I'd say get Raiden IV or get the bundle of StarCraft/BioShock/whatever. It doesn't really matter if you've played/beat Raiden III yet for you to be able to play and enjoy IV. Also, you'll always be able to get Resident Evil, so it shouldn't be a high priority. BlazBlue is a good pick, but if you're going to be playing the hell out of a fighter you might enjoy more anyway, then it can wait.

Ya Raiden IV easily beats III, and it isn't on a limited run that I know of and It is only 20 bucks now great gameplay, best soundtrack (mostly Raiden 2 songs), and 2 DLC ships that adds more badassness to it, mkII, w00t, and the cool to use Fairy
