Default Metal Slug and other 2D games

Anyone have any opinions on Metal Slug Anthology?

I've been waiting for a decent MS set to come out on a console that I own for years now. I thought the control schemes would be annoying, but using the Wiimote on its side and throwing grenades by flicking it is a lot more precise than I thought it could be, and I have no problems. Must have logged more than a 100 hours since getting this, completely ignoring SSX Blur in the process.

And now I hear that Guilty Gear XX Accent Core has been announced for the Wii as well. I think the Wii has a unique opportunity to meld modern innovation with love of old games, via both the VC and games like this (the classic controller and the Wii's sales numbers must surely both play a part as well). A Dreamcast for the new generation, then

I pre-ordered Metal Slug Anthology but I regretted it as they removed hitflash on the bosses. I couldn't even tell if I was hurting the boss or not and it was driving me mad. I then sold my copy on ebay... I was really let down by it and am wary of pre ordering games from now on.

I was going to get it, but I'm not now...
It does look really good though, maybe when it goes down

I'd rather have classic controls when it comes to metal slug tbh.

To be honest, I hadn't even noticed the lack of hit flash on the bosses until it was higlighted here. So I guess that didn't bother me.

I agree. A lot of fuss is (justifiably) being made over the motion sensing and pointer capabilities of the Wiimote, but it's easy to forget that it can function as a great wireless pad too, and I'm glad to see some Wii games (like Fire Emblem, to a lesser extent Sonic) making use of it in that capacity. Yes, it's a revolutionary controller, but there's room for some good basic controls too.

I just rented metal slug it's really fun, and hard. Is there something i'm doing wrong on the bosses though it seems impossible. I find myself just trying to get as many grenades in before I die.
