Default Mario Tennis

I do have a copy of Mario Power Tennis for the Gamcube, but every time I play it I just long for the original N64 Mario Tennis, which was waaaaay better. That's quickly moved near the top of my list of games I want to see on the VC.

The Power Shots totally ruined the game play and turned what used to be an accessible skill-based series of matches into egregious button-mashing. Removed such a huge part of the intricate balancing of some of the characters that it was nigh-unforgivable. Online play might have made a difference, but alas...

Any else have any thoughts on this?

That's why I turned them off, but I still enjoyed Mario Power Tennis a lot. I loved the Mario Bros. gimmick court. That was a blast to play on.

I'm just wondering how they're going to handle the linking unlockables. Either they're gonna make them unlockable by doing stuff in the game, they're gonna be unlocked from the start, or they're just not going to be in.

I love N64 Mario Tennis, and I hope we do see it on VC. Perfectly balanced and great fun, it's one of the best multi-player games around.

This is a good point- what will they do about the Transfer Pak?

I'd be surprised if we see Mario Tennis 64 on VC. It wasn't produced in huge numbers the first time around, so it might get overlooked in favour of other, more popular, titles. I hope to be wrong though, as I love the game.

Considering the average console life of six years, and the fact that they can keep adding games after that, I think it's pretty certain that pretty much all Nintendo-published titles (sans Rare) will get released. Including all the Mario sports and parties.

I hope they don't wait too long with Yoshi's Story though, I couldn't stand waiting for tons of semi-good games in a row after all the classics are done.

Yeah, if Nintendo made it, we'll be getting it! Although I probably won't download any of the sports or party games I can't think of a reason why they won't be released one day.

Oh, you must get Tennis. Really, it's absolutely brilliant.
