How many stars are in Super Mario 64?

Since the game doesn't give me any percentage or anything, I was curious how many stars can be found in the game. Even though I still have a bit to go, I'm going to try to get 100%, eventually.

I know that there are 115 for the fifteen stages (7 each), 3 for the cap courses, and 3 for the boss stages, making for a total of at least 128... but I don't know exactly how many more there are for stars given and other hidden courses.

So, all I really would like to know is the grand total of stars that can be found - I haven't been able to find an answer for that one on my net search. What I do not want is hints; beating the game by myself is much more fun than peeking at a lame walkthrough.

I think it is 128. Or maybe 129..not sure. I'm currently playing Super Mario 64 again as well, I beat it the other night and I want to 100% it so I can meet...that guy.... :P

120, though you get another one for beating the game. It doesn't count towards your total though.

1 coin star in all 15 stages = 15
15 Castle Secret Stars = 15
