Question LostWinds or Toki Tori

Due to the lack of Star Parodier this week on the VC I have a 1000 unspent Wii points on hand. I decided to go with a WiiWare game this time but I don’t know which one to get. The choices have been narrowed down to LostWinds and Toki Tori; which one would be the best choice? Maybe some of you who have the games already can tell me the pros and cons of them. Thank you.

LostWinds is a unique 2D platformer that has a highly original Wii-mote based control system. It's very slow paced, which people either love or hate. Downside is it's a bit frustrating sometimes, because the movement is so slow and it takes a long time to do anything. It lasts about 3 hours and there's not much reason to replay it, but 3 hours feels about the right length by the end. Not perfect but does plenty to redeem itself.

Toki Tori is a puzzle game a bit like Lemmings. You have to navigate your way around each level with a limited number of items and the way to solve each level isn't always obvious. It's quite challanging towards the end, very good.

Both are good games. I enjoyed Toki Tori a bit more, but LostWinds is the most original and artistic. If you're only ever getting one you should remember there are quite a few other games like Toki Tori so you're not missing much if you don't get it, but there's nothing else like LostWinds.

Smile Go with LostWinds dude!

Go for LW. I got tired of Toki Tori during the 3rd world when I got stuck AGAIN. It's a hard game and overall not as good as LW. That doeasnt make it a bad game, but this is all about choosign one over the other. You may think LW is short but I've played through it 3 times already, and most people will go through it multiple times. (Can't say the same for Toki Tori.) Plus, you can submit your best clear times here on the forums under the appropiate Wiiware article that Mickeymac and I started!

Edit: I know I'm probably too late to convince you (Clueless), but just in case anybody else clicked this thread because they were wondering about the same question, I thought I'd answer. ^^;

Music: Toki Tori's music is catchy and highly appropriate. LostWinds' music is good, but very sleepy. (Literally. It's extremely calm, slow, and minimal music with only a couple of instruments. Sometimes only one instrument, even. >_>)

Difficulty: Toki Tori can get very difficult, so be aware of that. On the flip side, LostWinds is ridiculously easy the entire way through. Don't expect anything resembling a challenge, at all. :P

Unique qualities: You know, despite the Wii remote usage, I have to say LostWinds really felt to me like a pretty standard 2D platformer with puzzle-solving elements--more or less the same as any other number of (better) games, just with a slightly different control scheme. But that's me, and I know many others felt LW was a very unique game. Don't sell Toki Tori short here either, though. It may not be a new genre, since Lemmings and The Lost Vikings are out there (among others), but it's a pretty rare one.

Replayability: I can't imagine that I'd ever play either one again, actually. <_< LW is much too slow-paced for me to want to revisit it, and there's no point to solving TT puzzles that I already know the answer to.

I'm not commenting on gameplay because the styles are too different to directly compare. But overall I'd say Toki Tori wins this battle very easily.

I'd say go with LostWinds. It's a unique game and it's really fun. I've played Toki Tori - Good, not great. Get LostWinds.

Toki Tori is my pick easily. Lost Winds is good but I felt the level design let it down a little. It's just a little too simplistic, but the overall game is a very nice and enjoyable experience. While it may 'wow' you more than Toki Tori at first, Toki does have more meat to it and in my opinion represents better value for money.

Get Toki Tori for now as that'll last you a while, and maybe when you begin to finish it (Which may not happen, pending you being able to finish the hard levels!) grab Lost Winds

How about both? Both with Dr Mario make up my top three WiiWare titles.

The only negative thing I have to say about LostWinds is that one can spend a bit of time aimlessly wondering around for a bit, but that may make the game also appealing. It doesn't exactly hold your hand like more and more games seem to do, these days.

LostWinds has disappointed some with its brevity.
