Default The legend of zelda movie

www.IGN.com

you can read about the legend of zelda movie on this site.

Its been kept secret for a while and as the trailer said its coming out 1st April 2009. I whatched the trailer and in my opinion I dont think it will do well.

Its based in oOt by the looks and sounds of the trailer. but anyway go check it out.

I for one am very glad it's fake. I can't think of a way they could make a Zelda movie good. Fantasy films almost always turn out like crap. Video game movies even more so. Can you imagine combining those on the crapscale?

I say it will go this far up the scale

Zelda has too much awesomeness to be put into a movie.

The thing is, a group on indie film people were making a Zelda movie. And from the looks of it, I think this might just be it. It was being made somewhere in Europe, with a very Medieval look, over the coarse of multiple years and previously IGN had mentioned it.

If this is that movie though, I never suspected it to either have gotten this far or to have had special effects put to it. And I doubt IGN hired someone to put special effects in to this or even put together a mock trailer all for an elaborate April Fools joke. This had been made sometime before either by this group I'm thinking of or some other group who wanted to become famous and put it on IGN.

Anyway, supposedly IGN revealed everything about their April Fools prank on the site, but lol IGN.

IGN mentioned in their article that Rainfall worked on the joke on behalf of IGN. The special effects were done by a guy on a Mac with Final Cut Pro during his free time. It took them three months to make. Folks like IGN can afford to spend a lot of time planning in advance for a huge joke like this one. And it gives Rainfall good exposure, which is their understandable impetus.

So no, this is not a grand indie film project that got co-opted by IGN. Yes, IGN got people to help with their giant gag. If a small indie group tried to make a Zelda movie, they would be squashed by Nintendo over licensing.

A videogame movie can be good as long as Uwe Boll doesn't direct it. Also, it is pretty obviously an April Fools joke.

Did he do the Super Mario Bros., Doom, Street Fighter and Wing Commander?
