Default I just got the blue startup screen through Cybernoid!

Is this a well known event when running c64 games on the Wii?

I just downloaded Cybernoid, played through the first level and as I started the second the game hung for a few seconds and refreshed to the blue Commodore 64 screen you get when you switch a standard C64 on.

It's been so long since I saw this that I couldn't remember any prompts to enter other than "run" and that just brought up "ready" so I reset the channel and it went back to Cybernoid. Now I wish I'd at least ran the old:
10 print "I am great"
20 goto 10

Anyway, has this happened to anyone else while playing a C64 title?

Not so far. There are reports of graphical glitches on Paradroid though, so the emulation obviously isn't perfect. If I were you, I'd drop a line to Commodore Gaming to let them know about the problem.

That's amazing! However, to get back into the game isn't that easy unfortunately. It might still be memory resident in the emulator, but RUN will only work with a BASIC program and Cybernoid (as with 99.99%) of games is written in assembler, so you'll need to know the memory address the program execution begins at (the old SYS).

I'm assuming there might be the odd glitch here and there. Lots of the tricks done by C64 programmers, particularly people like Andrew Braybrook, took advantage of undocumented features of the hardware, making emulation of games quite difficult at times. I don't know the history of the Wii C64 emulation software but it's a shame that they didn't contact the bloke who writes the CCS emulator for the PC because that's about as close as you could ever get to the real thing and he's been writing and debugging it constantly for nearly ten years now.

I now wish I hadn't reset so I could upload a video of it to youtube. I suppose that technically from this screen you could even try running type in games (which to be honest I might have preferred to Cybernoid - the game is not fun for me with its insane difficulty)
