Default Jet Force Gemini on VC?

Hi,

I once played a great game when I had a Nintendo 64 console. It was Jet Force Gemini. Is there any chance it could be emulated someday on the virtual console, or has it been already announced?

Oh and for a preview of the game here is a Wikipedia article of it :

Thanks!

Jet Force Gemini is a RARE-developed game, so it is unlikely that it will be coming to VC anytime soon or at all, as RARE are now owned by Microsoft.

Hi,

Ohhh, it looks bad indeed. They only option would be for Nintendo to pay royalties for porting Rare titles to the VC and then to add these fees as extra fees for N64 Rare fans who I am sure, are willing to pay for it.

It would be great if this classic were to be rereleased on the VC, but the Rare issue clouds its future.

Only one thing to do then, DEMANED A SEQUAL!

I've got this on N64 but haven't actually bothered playing it yet, probably should do considering it's supposed to be really good.

This was such a expensive 139,- DM game.

It was worth it, the best action game of 1999.
I have beaten it 100% and it was an eeeepic 3D-run&gun-action/adventure quest to do so.
And very fun because there's so much alien splatter flying around.
The swamp planet was creeepy.
The best thing was the ant disco! what a massacre!! ^^
And so many secrets to be found!! so many different planets! weapons! bosses!! (first boss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF8rOZC5SLw)

Almighty, the last boss raised my adrenaline like nothing before. I wanted to beat it so badly. And it was hard sometimes. The LAST BOSS!!! What a horror!
Great plot also.
And graphics and soundwise Rare's most ambitious title next to Conker.
Soundtrack has lots of variety, is just awesome.
This is a perfect game! You feel quality and challenge from beginning to end.
Get it somehow.

Multiplayer plus:

it has a multiplayer mode (like in mario galaxy). the second player can target with a flying mini-robot, if he's been build together in story mode.
this robot is really helpful if you have a friend around, because he can do lots of extra damage - very useful in boss fights.

there's also a multiplayer mode with many different modes,
there's the arena where you can battle on over 16 multiplayer stages with lots of different selectable characters from the game.
fun for hours, but you need to unlock pretty much of it with sidequests in the singleplayer mode.

there are also two different racing games, the first one is in 3D, a WipEout-like turbo racer,
the other one is topdown-2D like Super Off-Road, full course on one screen.
and there are some shoot-the-targets autoscroller minigames.
again, you have to unlock them first.

I have to replay it some time.
But the floyd missions were TERRROOORR!!

Every time I had a friend over many years ago when I had this game I'd try and con him in to controlling the little chopper but they'd always get bored and not wanna control him after 5 min

Overall it's a great game, the weapons are awesome, you can upgrade your characters with jetpacks and armor. And you can play as a dog that has a tank for legs and lower torso AND he turns into a raft when you go over water. How many games let you do that? But the greatest thing of all is you can save or slaughter these cute little fuzzy guys that look like gizmo from Gremlins.

This was back when Rare was all about packing as many tasks and fetch quests as they could into a game, which succeeded in making them really long but (for me, anyway) not all that fun. This was why I wasn't into DK64 or Jet Force Gemini, even though I devoted weeks to finishing both of them.

JFG was the real tragedy because its control mechanics were actually pretty great, the boss battles were cool, and if they'd just been less focused on dragging out the game's length they could've build a totally satsifying, five-star action game around these elements.

But for my money Rare's N64 masterpieces were Goldeneye and Perfect Dark; those are the only Rare games I'll really regret not having on the VC.
