Default If Prime 3's controls are as good as people claim, would...

You like to see a remake of 1 and 2 with updated graphics, new controls and maybe a few new bits thrown in for good measure, on a cool Prime compilation disc?

Personally I would. I really enjoyed Prime 1 and was enjoying Prime 2. But the thing that always irritated the hell out of me (So much so that I never beat 2. Which is why i've just re-bought it) were those awful controls

Hunters when it hit, had phenominal controls and I was racing through it with joy because no longer was Prime a chore to play

I've never liked it when games with a first person view (Before someone moans about it not being an FPS. I know it isn't technically. But it's FP and you shoot... ALOT. So I don't care if it's a mix of FPS and Adventure, it's stil an FPS! Just with a damn good story ) differ from conventional control layouts. First Person games generally have the same layout and there's a reason to that. Because it's the the best layout you can have!

So Prime 3 is my most wanted/anticipated game. It looks amazing and I can't wait to see how it plays with the new controls (Which are being hyped up the high heavens from the likes of IGN) and I just want it to hurry the hell up and come out, so that I can get stuck in and play all day

I just hope it's not a dissapointment.

Frankly, I wouldn't care either way if they made remakes of them. I probably wouldn't buy them. The GC games work fine for me. I've never had any issues with the controls in MP 1 or 2. Actually, I found them to be (at that time) some of the most intuitive controls I've come across in a video game.

Strike 2 Jon.

Because, they're good now. But they could be perfect

So seriously, you didn't have major problems with aiming?

Samus' incredibly slow movements with her granny arm and her auto spring back from the giant elastic band that's attatched to her, where if you so much as move and inch your aim goes straight back to the center again, unless you hold "L" which is useless when it's designed to lock on, so usually you'll lock onto the wrong thing (Which is why you're aiming manually in the first place), didn't once get you killed?

Especially on Ridley or the end boss of 2? That thing with the 8 Tentacles? (I think he was the end, I could never get past his third form, always lost to much energy aiming up Tentacle guy)

Wow

The large analog function on the gamecube controllers shoulder buttons means that you can press them to a point before it says "click", if you hold it there you will be able to move and hold the aim without locking onto the target. I really missed that with the Wii Nunchuk's Z button on Twilight Princess.
I'm currently trying to speedrun MP for some good fun and it's a really useful movement since it's faster than turning around.

And maybe back to topic. I don't think people would buy a remake, it's too soon after the original games. The game would need to contain both MP games and lots of goodies to sell good. Lots of calibration would need to be done to the game to fit the new controller. If Nintendo keeps about the same controller for the next generation, then I think a remake would be more appealing.

I think Metroid Prime + Echoes had the right control scheme and functionality the games needed.

Of course, if one is an FPS fan, would feel unconfortably tied-up with the locking system, but if he feels so strange he may choose not to use it.

The fact that it is so useful is that it doesn't matter how good an analog stick is, its course is limited and would never provide the sensitivity of a true analog controller (ie: mouse, stylus).

I look forward to MP3 with great hope, since me too I find Hunters to be a masterpiece of smooth control, and can't wait to experiment a true (no-aid) free look/aim system.

Different configurations should fit every style of different gamers.

And to finally answer the original question:
No, maybe in 15 years.
MP and Echoes are perfect games as they are, if they have to be improved, it should be something BIG.

Can't understand this need of remakes of games that are fairly young. And the fact that all of us like retrogaming I can't figure out why this argument pops out so often.
