This maybe?

I know you said bubble ship, but it was 10 years ago. Memory can be a funny thing. I've recentally rediscovered a game that I used to play when I was about 8. I had a photographic image of it burned into my mind... And I got the characters Blonde hair right

Everything else was different.

So I thought that that, looks bubble-ish and those weapons were very bubble-ish.

Could be Air Zonk? I'm going by the bright colours, no bubble space ship as with Demon's suggestion but it could be it. If not it's still a great game so you can't go wrong.

Yeah, I thought Zonk straight away because of the colours, but you're a person/human and not a ship. His head is bubble shaped though.

It sounds like Fantasy Zone to me, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't released on PCE:

Edit: apparently, FZ was released on PCE, so I'd guess it's the game you're thinking of. The Master System version has been released on Virtual Console in Japan already, and I'd be very surprised if we don't see it in other regions too.

You're welcome.

As I mentioned, I believe that we'll be getting the Master System version, in Europe at least. Who knows if the US will get it, but I would say that the PCE version would be an unlikely release.

Yes, "egg with windscreen" says only one game to me, but I had no idea that Fantasy Zone had appeared outside the Sega consoles and the arcade. There was even a NES port, apparently.
