Hey all. Just got me Wii 2 days ago and I think it's absolutely great, one question though: I noticed you are able to adjust the screen horizontally (left to right) through the Wii options menu, but is there a way to adjust your screen vertically? I was playing Super Castlevania IV for the SNES and like 1/8 of the top of the screen is cut off and there is alot of available "black space" down at the bottom. I cannot adjust via my TV menu. So...HELP PLEASE!

Are your Wii a european PAL one? If so it's because of the NTSC image (american and japanese standard, have lower resolution than PAL) that has been put into the PAL image (PAL is europes standard and operates at a higher resolution but with only 50 FPS rather than 60).
It's been around in europe even since the original consoles were around and is nothing we can do about since Nintendo won't optimize it for PAL.

According to his Location, I think he's based in the USA, and so he would have a NTSC Wii.
And no, there is no setting in the Wii menu to change vertical allingment, could you make a screen capture? A foto from your TV showing Castlevania? May we may be able to help you further.

Also mention what kind of TV you have.

It's not possible, so you should tell Nintendo to add that feature to the firmware.

Here is the link to the image: You can see where Simon's status bars are cut off on the top. My TV is an Emerson. |

I posted this in another thread I made, but no one could help. Here is a picture of my Wii running Super Castlevania IV for SNES, as you'll notice, about 1/8 of the top of the screen is chopped off.
http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?im...ture005ga2.jpg I know the Wii allows you to adjust the picture horizontally but not vertically, and I cannot adjust the picture via my tv set. Do any of you have any reccomendations? |

This one for Super Mario Bros is a better example:

I have a problem with my Wii display: Everything looks crammed onto the screen and it dosen't fit nicely in a square area. Here is an example:
Super Mario Bros. Virtual Console http://img149.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0000027sq2.jpg Notice how Mario's stats are all cut off at the top. This is not just a Virtual Console problem, but with other Wii games as well. I have a Emerson 20" "Flat Tube" model television with Composite video from the Wii (I am running in 480i) So someone please help!!! Emerson 20" TV http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0000028uf2.jpg Wii Composite video plugs http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0000029di6.jpg Keep in mind I am using a 4:3 ratio. |
