What happens when you get banned?

I dont even want to get banned from here or any forums, or even make up a fake name and get banned... I was wondering what actually happens? is the IP address blocked or just not allowed to sign on?

Admins generally have the choice to ban your account or your whole IP. It's less complicated to ban an account (because many IPs are shared), but sometimes banning an IP is necessary to get rid of pests who keep signing up new accounts in order to circumvent a ban.

If you are banned you can't post anywere in the forum. Sometime admins can just ban your account or ban your IP too if you use multiple accounts and continuly spam the forum etc.

Seriously though, I think they can ban your account, or to stop people making new accounts, your email or IP address.
