Default Halo 3 anyone?

To the gaming business in whole, Halo 3 is about the biggest thing ever. Its hype was, and still is, huge and it came through the first couple reviews beautifully (GT a 9.8! 9.5 from IGN & GameSpot even a 10 from 1up!)...

So why is here no topic about it? I was under the impression that there are at least a couple 360 owners on this forums and I presume most of them are going to get it.

I myself don't own a 360 and probably never will (seeing as I don't wet myself when I see Halo 3 footage says enough I think) but I can't deny that its huge (the hype and the quality of the game) and neither should anyone else imho. Share your thoughts here please.

ps.; Im getting pretty skilled with typing on my Wii, just wrote all this, lol.

Hated the first one, hated the second one. They don't deserve the hype. They're basic and flawed. I honestly can't think of anything the game does well.

And if ask the Fanboys, they can't answer. Try it sometime, it's hilarious.

Because for such a "great" game, its fans can't tell you what makes it great.

I've only ever had childish answers, kinda like what I got from asking about Bio.

Like "Just 'cause", "You don't like ... so you wouldn't understand why this is great", "You're retarded if you don't know".

Ask about its plot too. Because the only people who's been able to tell me about it, are those who've read the novels. Yet Halo's story is what makes it as great.

I know part of the story, read part of the novel. Had to stop as bad stuff happened again. But that's the only reason why I know it. Because I didn't pick up anything storywise from beating them.

LMFAO XD

Sorry, just heard that IGN said the game only takes 4 hours to beat, on Legendary LMFAO XD

That sounds really hard

Oh, also, this was a Wii post too

Actually, it says four hours if you play through the storyline with friends; ten to thirteen if you play by yourself.

Frankly, nothing that I've read in IGN's review really appealed to me. This time around it may have some nice graphics, but it still sounds like a mediocre shooter to me. And the upcoming UT3 seems a much better choice for multi-player, as far as replay value is concerned.

What he said...I have already talked about my disgust of this franchise and the utter confusion by the hype surrounding it. As pegasus touched base on this already i`ll keep this short and simple. Since the dawn of 3d gaming the fps has been one the most recycled genres in gaming. I mean how many germans can you shoot before you have your fill? So these days it takes a really special concept to play off of or deep and satisfying gameplay to keep an fps game afloat. Imo Halo possesses none of these qualities and I will continue to be infinitely puzzled of its mass appeal.

I will be buying Half-life Ep:2 and Unreal both of which make me go “Ha-what?”

Yeah, played through the first one, and it had decent graphics, really shoddy level design and above-average gameplay. 6/10, maybe 7/10 at a push. Certainly no Goldeneye or Quake, and not really a patch on Bungie's earlier Marathon series either.

I only played a little bit of the second one, and felt much the same, and seeing as even fans of the franchise say it's not as good as the first, I doubt my opinion will change.

So , no, even if I did have a 360, I doubt I'd get Halo 3. I have no interest in it, and the hype surrounding the series utterly baffles me, because the games are really quite average. If I wanted a good FPS on the X-Box or 360, I'd just pick up one of the Timesplitters games.

As Demon points out, fans aren't able to defend the games, except by talking about how great the multiplayer is. Fair enough, but Air Taxi on the Amiga is a very limited game that really comes to life when played with friends, and I didn't see every magazine and website on the planet falling over themselves to give it a perfect score.

I just don't get it.

played the first one and stopped in the middle of the second area
because my car got stuck between two rocks.

never played the second one.
and the third one looks just like halo 1.

apart from the giant metalspider boss fight, it looks like waste.
even MP3C's ridley battle looks more spectacular.

at least halo 3 has online multiplayer which is the only good thing about it.

From everything I've read, it's Halo 2 but in HD graphics wise. So 10-13 on your own. That's better.

Corps, this is recycled. It's a clone of ULTIMATE DOOM!

7 weapons, no story etc...

I've wrote down the similarities and have it saved to a word doc. But it's on the other Laptop. If anyone's interested though, then I will post it. But I doubt anyone's interested

BTW, I must say that this is nice, having people agreeing with me that a hyped game sucks

I wouldn't say the Halo games "suck", but they're certainly very average, and nowhere near as good as the (ridiculous) hype suggests.

I'll be buying it. I am not the BIGGEST Halo 1 & 2 fan but I did enjoy them so there is no way I won't be trying this out.

I really can't understand people who get too excited by Halo though, it's hardly original is it?

I'll be getting it too, I haven't played either of the previous but I'm buying it solely on the great reviews it's gotten
