Default Guitar Hero vs. Rock Band

Does anyone know anything about Rock Band for the wii other than it is coming(but not with the other versions) will the guitars be cross compatible(you can use your GH3 guitar in rock band and vice versa). I want Rock Band more, but if it means waiting a year GH3 is for me. any help appreciated.

First off, there has been no official word on Rock Band for Wii. Second, the games are published by two different companies. While there might a possible compatibility, GH III's "guitar" is made specifically for the game, so I would say it's doubtful.

As for the games themselves, Rock Band, while a novel idea, could also fall flat on its face - even if it's doubtful with all the hype the game is getting. I can understand the appeal of Guitar Hero much more. *shrugs* Either way, I'm not terribly interested in either.

Well I played "Don't fear the Reaper" on RB at PAX07 and it was okay, not as good as GH though.

I cant help but think of how much rock band will cost with the entire set. possibly over $200, not sure how many people are that hard core for the game. personally, im to much of a nerd to care about how much i can rock.

The Guitar Hero series has been purchased by Activision, which has committed the development of GH III to Neversoft.

Rock Band is being developed by GH original development team, Harmonix.

So, they will turn out to be quite similar in my opinion.

Neversoft is developing a sequel on a robust and well-known engine.
Harmonix are developing a new title, but if they're using a new engine it's surely an advanced version.

I think they will be both excellent games, only some difference in the gameplay relative to the "band-playing" will differentiate it.

Anyway I'm going for GH III, I only hope that Neversoft puts inside their super-flexible character creation system.

I love Rock band more than GH3 to be honest as I see it as far more ambitious and not just another cash in. I would be willing to buy a 360 or a PS3 for Rock band so the fact its not on the Wii really dosent matter to me. Guitar Hero for the PC is what I really want to be honest. I'm gonna wait and see how it comes along then make my mind up after that.

I've played Guitar Hero II on the PS2 and I thought it was great so III will be good enough for me

So, trying to sell a game with a big set of peripherals with a rather big price tag is not considered cashing in? Yeah...

In the end, they're both about selling stuff. Money makes the world go round, you know. Yes, I know; it's just so hard to believe.
