Default WOOOOOOOOOOOO! I just got an N64 with Paper Mario.

I decided to do it, just bought an N64 with PM and an Exspansion pack for £50.

Now I need some more pads, PD 64, Pilotwings and tons more games that I missed out on! (Didn't miss out on PD, it broke with overuse! Me and my buds 8 hours a day for weeks. We were hooked)

I'm so sick of waiting for N64 games to come to the VC. We get one every 2 month or so whereas we get tons of mediocre crap for the other consoles (Look at the last few VC releases).

I'll still keep the Wii for the VC because i'm not about to go out and buy a NES, SNES, TG and Mega Drive. And i'm quite happy and content with that side of the VC anyway.

But now I have regained one of the (If not the) best consoles ever!

Nice! Paper Mario 64 is such a great game, I remember playing it on vacation in the US, finished the whole game in a couple of weeks. I do not own it myself, but since I finished it already I'm not really looking for it either. But if it hits the VC I'd download it in a heartbeat.

By the by, I wouldn't say the N64 is the best console ever, since it lacked great games in a lot of genres.

I'm tempted to buy a cart on eBay, but it's like $30.

I agree that it didn't have them in every genre, whereas the 360 seems to be doing just that. So on paper the 360's the better system. And I personally think it is, however...

We're about to buy our third N64. The first one was my brothers and he sold it for money towards a P.C. I begged him not to and even offered a trade of my PS1 and all its games which he said was unfair on me.

So I eventually got one myself right at the end of its life, making it hard ot find many games in store and I wasn't able to shop online for them (Whereas now I can which is why i'm getting another N64).

Then I traded it in once I had the NGC, I stupidly thought that the NGC would be a good console, boy was I bloody wrong.

Now, you may be thinking "What the hell does this have to do with anything?"

Well, we're about to get our third 360 also. Not because of similar reasons as to why we're getting our third N64, but because of MS' stupid, sorry, STUPID! live updates that are manditory and that KILL 360's!

The 360 was my favourite console, but not anymore. You need the updates to play the games online and to get the new arcade games, but the updates kill the machines. WHAT THE BLOODY HELL MAN?!

Although I have no idea what consoole you think is the best. I just used the 360 because as I said above, it seems to be getting some amazing games in every genre. DS is doing a really good job too.

Ah, how it would suck to have a console that kills itself when it's doing its essential updates. I always had a positive impression of the 360, not having one myself, and thought it to be a perfect online console, wishing Nintendo would do a similar thing.

I don't really know what the best console is, I'd hazard a guess towards the PS2 though, since it did so very well and had a lot of great games. But my favorite console in terms of fun would have to be the NGC because of Paper Mario, SSBM and tWW... or the N64 since it had OoT and MM, or the DS with Mario Kart and Castlevania's or de GBA with Metroid Fusion and Golden Sun... Hell, I guess I'm just really glad I'm a Nintendo-man

I think I liked 10 games on the NGC.

I'll have a think.

Resident Evil 0, 1, 2 and 3, SSBM, Rogue Squadron 2, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin 1, Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario TTYD, Tony Hawks 3, Mario Party 4 was ok... And that's it I believe. Pretty much everything else I hated. Especially the first party stuff since it all sucked when compared to there N64 counterparts IMO.

I actually really liked the Wind Waker and Super Mario Sunshine, plus I liked Beyond Good and Evil, Mario Power Tennis, Paper Mario 2, SSX3, Soul Calibur II, Super Monkey Ball and TimeSplitters 3... from the top of my hat.

There are a ton of great games for the Gamecube. The PS2 beat it out by just a bit for best console of last gen, mostly because of the accessibility. But the truth is, the Gamecube has tons of gems, specifically artistic, unique games, that the other consoles didn't have the balls to make. I could name countless more, but some of my favorites are Bloody Roar, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, Fire Emblem, Ikaruga, Killer 7, Wind Waker, the REmakes, Smash (duh), Tales of Symphonia, Timesplitters, and many others.

Good job on your purchase. The N64 might be my favorite console. And Paper Mario is a wonderful game. You'd best get collecting. My favorite game for the console (besides the obvious OoT) is Mischief Makers, you will want that.

The two game for the N64 that I really want on the virtual console are Kirby 64 and Ogre Battle 64... I somehow missed out on buying both of them and I severely regret it now. They were both renters for me.

I forgot, I loved Timesplitters II.

Soul Calibur would've been awesome if it wasn't for Link. He's not SC material. Bombs, Arrows, a ring out move. No, just no.

And I had a mate who always played as him for those reasons.

Never got many of the supposed "big" games because I thought they looked awful. Battalion, Killer 7, Geist, Fire Emblem (hadn't played the others), Pokemon XD Gale of whatever and the second one.

And Power Tennis, I just couldn't stand. I dislike all Mario sporting games, they ruin good sports. The only one i've ever liked was Mario Tennis 64 as it played like a Tennis game. Unless I was missing something, it had no special powers or courts to ruin the game like MPT had.

Couldn't stand Prime for the controls, they ruined a perfectly good game IMO. WW was pathetically easy and short for me to enjoy. Starfox Adventures got repetitve and Assault was just plain awful.

I bought so many games for it and so many games were returned the next day. I gave them a couple hours each and then gave them another couple hours (Every game deserves a second chance) and returned most of them.

And I fear the Wii is going the same way.

The NDS, everything was fixed. Every game series they'd ruined on the NGC, they've fixed for the NDS. So why ruin them some more for the Wii?

Hate to burst your bubble there Juice_Lee, but the PS2 had a lot of games similar to those special gems you name their. Tons of 2d animé fighters were released on the PS2 and it had way more RPG's, including some great 3d cell-shaded ones. Plus it had obscure/out-of-the-ordinary games like Rez.

Lol, I look like a PS2 defender right now :P Ah well, all in all, the PS2 lacked Zelda

And yes, Link was just a weird addition in SCII, but at least you could choose not to play with him. And you could switch off the insanely stupid special powers in MPT and just have a pretty arcade low-key but a lot of fun tennis game. By the way, Mario Tennis 64 had a special court where you had items, if I recall correctly.

No, I knew it would hit the VC. But when? Exactly. No one bloody knows, so rather than wait 6 years for it, I decided to get the N64, that way I can get loads of games that I missed out on first time round because of money shortages.

Things that may never come to the VC too.

And Paper Mario is that rare, if I sell it in 2 years time, i'll probably be able to doubly my money

Ah yeah, you couldn't turn the powers off when you played tournaments, but those took only an hour or so to complete. MPT was all about the four player frenzy or two player intense matches. I liked, much like I liked Mario Tennis 64 and Super Tennis on de SNES (Damn Super Tennis was awesome!)

Great taste!

Mario Tennis was clearly the best Tennis game on the N64, and I liked it much more than the cruddy GC version >_<

Oh, and I was THIS close to re-buying Super Tennis on ebay... but I bought some Wii points instead

Damn straight

I used to play ST with my bro, can't remeber it all to well. He loved it though.

Yep, that's why I wanted to unlock the characters, for 4 player. But I just couldn't stand it, by the second tournament i'd had enough.

MPT had the lousiest extra characters ever, Petey Piranha, who was waay to slow and couldn't hit a ball, and that caterpillar character, who was the only Defensive player next to Waluigi, but he was also slow, and annoying...

And yes, Mario Tennis 64 was probably a better game then MPT, especially since my favorite MT64 character, Waluigi, turned into a defensive type player. He was the most superb Technique player in MT64, but he kinda just sucked in MPT.

Oh btw, did you ever player Mario Tennis and Mario Power Tennis on the GBC and the GBA. I loved those game, they played a whole lot like Super Tennis on the SNES and the story/RPG mode had me hooked for weeks.

I played the GBC one, didn't like it because of the RPG elements. I was hoping for a game similar to MT 64, SSB/M/B and Streetfighter if you get my meaning.

Like you choose a ready made character and it randomly puts you up against a CPU character. No need for RPG elements in games like that IMO.

^ Aww, I really liked the GBC version. It was a bit weird though because the characters my mate created were sooo powerful they kept hitting the ball out all the time

If they release Mario Tennis on the VC then they have got themselves a buyer.. I just wish that Ninty would try and add Wi-fi play for some of their N64 games. That be so awesome tbh

Just bought Mario Tennis 64 and Mario Golf 64. I've never played the MG 64, but MG:TT wasn't to bad, so i'm hoping that MG 64 is to MG:TT, like MT 64 is to MPT

Awesome, how much were they?

There's a load of £5 games in my local Gamestation but then all of the rest are about £25-£35.

This is quite the scandal these days, with stories of MS replacing burned out 360s with reconditioned, rather than new, consoles, and other similar horror stories. Everyone seems to be quite surprised by this, as if the past twenty years of shoddy Windows releases hasn't been a clue as to where MS' priorities lie. It's certainly not in quality products.

Namco's Smash Court series for the Playstation is a good alternative to those, especially the Anna Kournikova release. I think they may be based on the same engine as Super Tennis; they certainly play very similarly.

Definitely. I hope Mario Tennis 64 comes to VC. It's a must buy, and one of the best titles to grace the N64.

Yeah GS has both in £20 each. I payed £15 each. Still pricey, but it's a saving

I'm gutted though. I wanted Jet Force Gemini. They had it for £10 BOGOF with PD 64 (Which of course was the first game I wanted back). So I got it, took it home and no cart. So I went back and still no cart

So I had to swap it and get Banjo Kazooie instead. That may not be a bad thing, i've never played it or JFG, but JFG is going for £4 more on eBay than Banjo is. And this Banjo was box only, that JFG was box and instructions

So quite gutting IMO.

Damn, just bought JFG for £3 no box or instrctions, so I went back to GS to see if they still had them in and I offered to pay em a couple quid. But they couldn't find them, think they chucked them

Shame as had I got home earlier I could've bought the full thing on eBay for £5
